Ever since the tu and the boltshot nerf I’ve noticed a dramatic shift in the entire meta game. Automatics are actually worth a yoink now! Today when I was playing there was a game with 3 people using the suppressor! 3! I may have seen 3 TOTAL prior to the tu. the storm rifle also recived a large popularity increase, and ARs are as common as dmrs and brs nowadays. And don’t get me wrong, the boltshot is still useful; it’s just not op anymore. Have any of you noticed this? What are your thoughts on it? What do you think of automatics going from a trolls tool to viable competitive guns?
I have seen a difference, I rarely run into boltshots these days. Today I have only come across 1 boltshot. So bolt shots are in decline in my opinion.
Edit: I didn’t care if people used the boltshot but for some reason the game just feels a bit better without always running into one.
I agree. Subtle, but different gameplay styles are emerging.
Boltshot is still overpowered and game breaking.
Yep, automatics can clean up, and require almost no skill to use. Expect to see them being used a lot regardless of Boltshot.

One of this weeks challenges is 150 automatic loadout kills. That is why you are seeing more of them. Next week they will all go away again.
I disagree that automatics require no skill. Just a different sort of skill. Percision wep skill is obvious, how well can you aim. Auto wep skill is, how sneaky are you? Do you know when to go for it and when to back down? Can you close the gap without taking any prior shots? Not easy.
Didn’t notice the automatics challenge?

Most skilled players rarely need to sneak to be in AR range. Most of what you see online is just dudes camping corners or the exit from a choke-point like on Adrift, which takes barely any tactical nous to do.

And most ‘precision’ or utility weapon users use a DMR whats your point? To get the most out of any weapon requires skill.
I prefer the BR, personally. It fits my play style. However in Halo 3 my favourite weapon was the SMG. It didn’t have a big clip, so I had to develop a strategy of getting in close and timing when I begin to shoot. Also keeping the reticule on the enemy when I was jumping around and strafing to throw off their precision aim.
It doesn’t take no skill at all to use an automatic (save the SAW), just a different mindset and play style.
Also with most automatics every shot that doesn’t hit the target is generally a handicap as it takes most if not close to all of the clip to strip shields and kill.

DMR needs a nerf so that it uses plenty more skill to use, but even in its current state, still requires far more skill than automatics which believe it or not, require almost no skill to use. And yes of course it requires skill to use any weapon, but the matter here is the degree of skill required. Automatics require so little skill to use that it negates the fact that it requires any skill in the first place, like playing CoD for instance. As the game currently stands, a lot of players who have dedicated much time and effort practicing are getting slayed by Grandmas who are curious of what their grandson gets up to in his spare time.
There’s not a weekly challenge for the Bolt Shot but there is for automatics.
Plus the smaller Majestic maps make the automatics more useful.
