I know the community has been begging for zero bloom, and now it’s here, and i’m going to give my opinion on it. I may talk a little harsh, but please, take all of what I say into consideration. Now let’s begin…
My feedback on ZB DMR Slayer
To be honest, I hate it. I can EASILY kill somebody across…Uncaged for example, without even zooming in on my DMR. The DMR and pistol were already powerful enough, but now…it’s like spawning with a sniper rifle.
343i, PLEASE do NOT put zero bloom in all playlist. To be honest, I may switch back to Halo 3 if you do. It will completely RUIN Reach multiplayer.
I love that 343i is listening to the community and actually is making changes to the Reach multiplayer, but 343i, don’t make stupid decisions.
And to be honest, I kinda like bloom in Reach. Only the wussies who didn’t want to adapt to the reach multiplayer wanted no bloom.
So that’s my feedback on zero bloom. Now, I have NOT tried out ZB sniper yet…if it even has no bloom. please take into consideration what I have said.
I hate bloom with a passion and I have adapted to it much more than you have, and I am sure there are countless others who have, and will share the same opinion as me.
The TU playlist has a slow movement speed, so you can’t strafe and make people miss there shots.
The DMR is fine, but the pistol on the other hand, It needs tweaking or make it a pick up.
Yes, ZB is fun and challenging, but it needs to stay where it is. I can assure you it will never be put in all of MM. That said I don’t mind 85% bloom, even though I am perfectly fine with 100%.
I love Zero Bloom, But at it’s current form in the TU Beta it’s abit misky.
The slow movement and jumpheight makes for easy kills on opponents and on yourself especially when using/being used on with a magnum.
I have been testing zero bloom with friends and Halo Waypoint go-ers ( Ooh Ah! ) ever since the TU hit and this is the outcome. A fast paced, balanced and fun for everyone with a full selection of now balanced AA’s and weapon spawns ( magnum secondary replaced with AR and magnum made a 5sk and placed as a pick-up ).
What about the pink needles from hell? The Needle Rifle is basically an automatic killing machine now. No need to even pull the trigger, just mash and watch the pink death fly! Same with the Magnum. It might not be the three shot from CE, but it’s darn close. In tests, I’ve clocked 2sk using the Magnum (I will grant that the target wasn’t moving.)
I’ve never bought into the DMR is random argument. It’s random only when fired above its optimal cadence. Optimal cadence and maximum cadence aren’t equal. When fired at the optimal cadence, the DMR is 100% accurate. I personally feel that the bloom could be less, but making zero bloom is overkill that then introduces other, more severe, problems. If bloom were set at say 50%, you could fire the gun twice as fast and still have the random element that causes people to pace their shots instead of just spamming at the trigger. Plus you might keep the NR and Magnum from becoming too overpowered as they are in ZB.
I love the zero bloom, but I think it’s way to quick of a kill and paired up with slow movement speed is making it even easier for it to kill someone.
The changes I would make is make the DMR a 6 shot kill and revamp the jump-height and movement speed. Also, the pistol is way too powerful, maybe slow down the ROF for it, or at least make it a pick-up.
Otherwise I’m loving the changes and I’m enjoying Reach much more now. Thanks 343!
My feedback for the Zero Bloom: Its a resounding Dislike. It makes it too easy for headshots espeically with the DMR. There was a reason bungie put in bloom, I suggest it not be messed with. If 343 insists on doing ZB, keep in it its own seperate section of MM, like classic slayer or the MLG playlists. I do not want to see it in Invasion or Team Slayer, if I do, I may consider trading in my Reach disk towards MW3 when it comes out.
Oh, and the changes to armor lock are horrendeous as well. It worked WAY better in beta.
I agree with the guy who made the topic. I will play a lot less multiplayer if any of reach other than FF. I think I would go back to Halo 3 if it did happen. I learned to accept 85% bloom, but no bloom is horrible. Reach and the rest of the games are different. No bloom worked during them, and they don’t work in reach.
I liked the Zero Bloom a lot, however, it needs some other tweaks to really work. Now that inherent weapon accuracy has been increased, 343 needs to reduce all the aiming crutches put into the game which falsely bolster player accuracy.
Reduce Auto Aim / Aim Magnetism
Reduce hitbox size, particularly headshot hitbox
Increase player speed
I feel that will make the core action of pointing-and-shoot a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
I was very happy to hear about ZB, and then I tested it out. Definitely one of those things that is shiny on paper, but isn’t all that in reality. Their main mistake was tweaking the accuracy of the weapons without tweaking anything else. This makes the weapons effectiveness scale exponentially. Bloom as it is is horrendously broken though, and I’ll take ZB over the current system any day. Doesn’t mean that ZB is perfect though. 85% is good, but the bloom still seems a bit too powerful.
Just get used to the skill gap return and don’t expect to see anything like bloom in Halo 4. No bloom is awesome if you play in on maps and games that actually work and that you can move and strafe. Try the MLG settings with something like 200 grav, 150 jump height, and 150 speed. I don’t like no bloom with the terrible Reach default games and speed either…
