trying to understand shooting mechanics

hi all!
i am really trying to understand the mechanics of H5 shooting, hit registration and time to kill. I have been playing halo since CE and have played all the multiplayers of the halo games. I also play a ton of the battlefield games (bad company 2 to battlefield 4). i understand how the battlefield titles worked as far as teh above mechanics and i also understood the halo titles and could adapt to the specifics of each title. but i am at a loss with halo 5. i can get killed with two bursts from the BR with full shields and full health. but i can lay a full clip into some people and not get a kill. i know that some of the issues are poor aim but i am seeing hit markers come up with these shots and it seems to take for ever to get a kill. now sometimes it takes people several shots to kill me and other times i can sprint to cover while being hit many times and still make it and survive. but other times i peek out behind cover to run to a location and then whamo! dead with a single burst or two (precieved by me) from a BR.
what am i missing. in other FPS i play and with other halo games i can usually figure out the mechanics and adapt. but i am really lost with this in halo 5.
i am not talking about lousy aim. i certainly have that at times. and the people that are complaining about aim assist i just can’t understand. to me, there is almost no aim assist. sometimes i can’t hit -Yoink- even when my site is on the target.
so if someone can help me with understanding the mechanics of this game as far as shooting is concerned that would help. I am often killed very quickly with full shield ( and not by a power weapon) than it seems i should when i see how many shots it takes me to drop a persons shields and kill them. and not all of it is headshots on me either.
i am just at a loss.
thanks

It sounds like you’re confusing Breakout and/or SWAT with regular multiplayer (Warzone, most other gametypes).

Normal gameplay is a 4-shot BR and a 5-shot pistol/DMR.
Breakout has reduced shields so a 2-shot BR and a 3-shot pistol/DMR.
SWAT has no shields so a 1-shot everything.

Or maybe you’re just lagging to hell.

i was in A CTF (and all my examples are in BTB and warzone) game last night and i had several times where i turned a corner and dropped dead before i knew what hit me. i had no time to react. and it was not a sniper and i had full health and shields. i now really run to vehicles until i can get i a handle on the weapons.

but any advice on the game mechanics and how to improve or adapt to these mechanics? they seem very different than H4. H4 was more along the lines of what i am used to in other games as far as hit boxes and hit registration. also the time to kill seemed predicable. here the time to kill for regular games (warzone and BTB) is all over the place.

I really don’t know what you mean.

I feel like sometimes that first “hit” an enemy gets on you doesn’t really register (no hit direction indicated). But sometimes I just think its the Speed of the game. You get hit once and then by the time you react the 2nd burst/round has already just hit you, followed by one last quick shot to finish you.

I thought it was BR= 3 shot and pistol/DMR= 4 shot. but I could just be remembering wrong.

I agree although in SWAT it’s 1 shot to the head, 3(?) to the body

Your whole problem is you pure and simple. Looking at you stats you have a 37% accuracy with the BR and the Carbine and a 22% with the DMR and you have never used the Magnum. To put that into perspective I am a little above average player and rank Diamond in slayer but don’t consider myself good. My accuracy with the DMR and Magnum are both 50%, my BR accuracy is a 45% and my Carbine accuracy is a 51%. Sothe truth is it’s all you and something only you can fix.

The BR is a 4 shot weapon, the Magnum is a 5 shot weapon and so is the DMR.

He/she is talking about SWAT

Sounds like latency ,which every European and some us are suffering from . There’s a massive thread on here about it. I just emptied a whole clip of a level 6 smg into a guy from behind while he was reloading and he killed me with less than a quarter with an smg (warzone) and I had full shields .
