Trying to get good with Isabel

Isabel seems to have less going for her in the department of specialized units, but I find her abilities interesting-- a lot of general perks, but moves like Ghost in Machine and Decoy check some boxes for me. That said, I’m a little rudderless on how to use her. I thought I could just look up YouTube videos but there seems to be a dearth of content for her. Neither do I see any threads on the forum for her. Does anyone use her much? Is she more suited for rushing or turtling? If there’s an authority voice on her that anyone could guide me to that would be greatly appreciated.

She hasn’t been very viable as of yet and that has mostly been due to other leaders being OP and scorpions (which she uses really well) had a bunch of associated bugs making them way weaker.

The OP leaders have all got nerfed next patch. And Isabel is getting buffs as well as all the bugs being fixed for the scorpions.

TL;DR - this is the time to learn Isabell!

I won’t pretend I am pro with her. You can’t be. Even Yoda shouldn’t pretend that. We can all get to Champion with her, but that isn’t the same.

Put simply she needs to focus on vehicular plays. She ain’t got mad rush potential and because she lacks lots of unit drops she also isn’t gonna be great in the early game. I think she’s a lot like anders. She needs to turtle up in the early game until she can get her vehicular economy going. Heavy metal is great when fighting around a base either on defense or offense. Just like close air support - you use it when the foe cannot afford to not engage you. Not in the open where they can just run away and let it wear off.

Spam clones. It makes the foe waste dps attacking units that they don’t need to. Atm it isn’t cost effective, it will be next patch, should be using it before every fight really.

Your late game composition will make use of mostly scorpion/wolverine/nightingale combos, with an addition 20-30pop of specific counter units. So maybe snipers if they spam cyclops. More wolves if they spam air. Or your own cyclops if they spam wraiths. Other scorpions won’t compete with you. Grizzlies probably can. So Forge is gonna be a pain. Good job you can ghost in the machine his grizzlies and get them to kill each other.

Pro-tip for next patch - scout an army first before committing fully to big fights. That way you can ghost in the machine his -Yoink- and make them waste their ‘y’ abilities on their own units rather than letting them use it on you first then controlling them.

Her upcoming patch notes leave a lot to be desired. Ghost in the machine is still mediocre sounding. They didn’t address the fact that any detect units can see through holograms, so the whole “bait out leader powers” strat is invalidated against anyone who isn’t a complete idiot.

I went to look for the patch notes for the upcoming update you were talking about and couldn’t find them. Are they in the News section on Waypoint?

My main is Isabel and I can tell you that in the first stages of the game I am going Hornet rush, hornets are awesome in this game, they move fast, they hit hard when upgraded and most important, in the air station you have Nightingales and the biiig hitter Vultures. Going air is not bad at all with her. If that fails, I go to Scorpion or Cyclops depending on the situation. During the whole battle I make sure I have a good amount of Energy so I can get tech faster than anyone else. As for abilities, well, with the new update we Isabel players can be really happy. I will check out those 13 seconds Ghost in the Machine as soon as I can.
