One really sad realization for us BTB mains. It’s a 6 month wait for one new map, and it’s a forge map.

I used to advocate for wanting 12v12 BTB over Warzone back in the day. There’s just no way I can justify the loss if everything Warzone gave us that was lost for the 12v12 BTB we got

Wrong since its going to lose a lot of players now que times are going to suffer and combine that with the sbmm being broken and putting people into laggy matches its no doubt going to get worse

Heaps of positives.

But the stretched out timing is like a dagger through the heart.

I can take the Nov 7 for Forge - it’s pretty much only 5 or 6 weeks from what I expected of (very) late September.

But March for Season 3 - :frowning: That’s a knife twist.

But yes; Forge. XP system weighted to performance. Free mini BP. New maps. New modes. Custom game browser. DMR. Shroud screen. Push for 13 week seasons. In game reporting. Acknowledgement that they are disappointed and working hard on game performance / experience. Co-op. Mission replay. New campaign achievements.

There is a lot of good stuff there.

And it sounded like they are building Season 3 into a soft reboot.

But man, March 2023.

Only 66 more sleeps until Forge.

And who knows when infection comes out as unless it comes with forge there’s no reason for a majority of people would go into forge after playing it once as a lot of forgers love infection and race but we don’t have either

My only problem with this is:

This is the biggest bacon wrapped polished turd of an update I’ve ever seen. this is stuff that should have been done circa 2020.

What in the actual heck was the team doing for the past 6, going on 7 years???

Seriously, I’m not even mad. I’m just genuinely confused how a project was THAT mismanaged and allowed to continue for that long. I mean, every deadline they must’ve had had to be missed. Every. Single. One. Which goes along with the trend we see now.

Positive? I can uninstall any time I want.

Forgers will likely build stuff like infection and grifball gamemodes and maps within the first week. And then (with no customs browser until season 3) people will file share it around, host lobbies with friends and through discord and xbox lfg. So again, not ideal but not the end of the world either.

It’s essentially coming out with Forge.

The new script nodes allow you to change a player’s team and traits (including what weapons they are holding).

I’d wager we’ll have dozens of version inside the first week.

We just need a way of communicating and sharing these pre-custom games browser. Hopefully they set up a forum here on Waypoint specifically for us to spotlight and share what we have found and/or created.

This.
I’ve already been thinking about how I could use the scripting to make the bulldog to work like the classic shotgun for infection. Then for grifball, the maps are really easy to make and the only real adjustment needed is adding a hammer jump effect to the gravity hammer.

We know as a community that these things will happen from the community members.

For grifball (and the game overall really) the hammer would probably need to be faster too.
Infection should be fairly simple to make, give survivors bulldog and maybe a sidekick or commando. Give the infected energy swords and no shields. If you want could go a step further give the infected grapples and the survivors repulsors (or just put them on the map).

Legit… that sounds kind of scuffed and sad :disappointed_relieved:

The forge scripting nodes will make Infection a breeze.

Essentially on death → change team, give sword, increase movement speed, supress weapon pick up and grenade use, increase health, and remove shields.

Or whatever traits you would like to apply.

If you go to the 17:05 on the video there is a node graph script that essentially defines a bunch of player traits into a trait set and then applies it to a player for 20 seconds when they use a custom equipment piece (with a splash message to ā€œExterminate the Enemyā€).

You can see how easy it will be to create Infection - or other variations of the same theme.

Assuming this all works or gets patched quickly. The forge beta will extend into Summer of next year

I’m happy that the team is working so hard to make positive changes. I know the devs take a lot of BS from some vile and disgusting people online, but at the same time I just don’t see enough to keep me engaged.

Even after this Winter update we’ll be at a severe deficit of game-modes and auxiliary mechanics from past entries. This doesn’t sit right with me. I’m not even talking about monetization, either. This is coming from someone who has no issues parting with her money to get a pretty piece of armor.

Bro, stop with this nonsense. There’s nothing good here.

Oh I see the positives!
Finally, I know I can turn my attention to other games and don’t have to hold out any hope of Infinite getting better.

Umm… What? I saw no mention of performance based XP.

Sean did say the match xp will factor in winning, performance, etc.

It appears at about 22:05 in the video.
