Try-Hards In Social Playlists

This is something I don’t understand.

I made a thread a while back asking for people to define what a “Try-Hard” is. I got a lot of mixed responses but most of them defined it as

-A person who beat them because they were better at Halo.

And thats good and dandy, no one wants to say they are bad and will come up with excuses for anything, Thats nothing new, thats been around forever whether its lag or controller or the devs fault, or your dog ate your homework or whatever… Don’t lie, we’ve all done it, no judging here

(Im exaggerating, so don’t send me any messages saying that you’re an honest abe about everything, i’m sure you are,)

Thats not what this thread is about.

This thread is about another argument. Why are people upset about people trying to win in social playlists?

I mean yeah, I personally believe that ranked playlists such as arena, and breakout out are HELLA competitive, and playing to win is a given. I play to win every time in a ranked playlist… But I also play to win in EVERY game of Halo that I play… That’s the point right? Halo 5 is a COMPETITIVE game, so it doesn’t make sense why people are getting upset over these ahem “Try-Hards” Ruining the social playlist.

Does that make sense? Like don’t get mad at me for trying to win a game of halo… i’m just playing

Thoughts?

does this happen to you alot?

I don’t get this either. Some people will say stuff like “oh well tryhards make call outs during the game” but you can’t hear the other team, and when is communication a bad thing?

This is one of the topics that I don’t know if I’ll ever understand.

You didn’t even read the post, did you?

If social playlists didn’t have stat tracking this would be less of an issue.

I mean Obviously I hate losing in Halo, who doesn’t?

This reminds me of a guy I played back in H3 and I quote

“Wow these kids suck trying to use team work n -Yoink-”

Like… What? Im just… Trying to play…???

Yes I agree OP. I mean people can make it competitive if they want because there’s not really a ranked playlist for those social gametypes. It’s social, you can do what you want.

I think I talked to you about this earlier today. Doesn’t removing stat tracking only make it better so you can “goof off” or whatever?

Why does stat tracking make the other team “tryhards”?

Because people want to be the try-hards without calling themselves try-hards.

A lot of people’s idea of social matchmaking is to match anyone and everyone, and play as little as possible while still winning.

Wanna know who they would be facing if the were able to Yoink! in the wind and still get kills and win? Much worse players. From their perspective, they are the try-hards.

They’re just mad because they are on the other end of the spectrum now.

Well when a game is win or lose and the objective is to win regardless if its social or not people are going to try and win. Almost no one will go out and say “hey guys lets lose this one, that will be fun” thats because we want to win its just how people have been for so many years. Also I think you should try redefining a try-hard, because in my eyes there is a try-hard and a pro a try hard is someone who it doesn’t matter if they are good or bad they are going to go at you like theres money on the line, they will try to perfect kill you every time, grab all the power weapons, and dominate your spawns just do everything they can to get one more kill, they are trying really hard, in comparison to a pro who is just someone who can be casual and still kick your -Yoink- to the moon and back, they can get the perfect kills without trying, they can out slay you when you have a powerweapon stuff like that.

Stat tracking in the playlist does not change how the serious people will play in it. It is social because you can get matched with anyone at any time and getting these regularly separated groups to socialize with one another. Players that want to win all the time aren’t going to be effected by whether or not the list supports stat tracking.

There isn’t any social playlist in H5 lol Every playlist is ranked - some just don’t show the rank on screen

But there are playlists labeled as “social”
Those are what OP is talking about.

Yes but the point is the players you verse are going to be the same skilled players you’d verse if the playlist didn’t say ‘social’.

What do you mean that’s the point?

I just didn’t understand what ooppys was getting at. Sure, the social playlists aren’t true social, but what does that have to do with tryhards?

People just like to b**ch about everything… they can’t just enjoy playing, they expect to win every game they ever play.

So what should you verse then?
