Try hards can be extremely toxic

I’ve got nothing against sweating like crazy to win matches. But when half the enemy team has quit, the players left have given up and put down their controller, and you’re still playing like it’s finals at Anaheim with spawn traps and flag juggles you simply don’t have a healthy mindset for gaming.

Like, you win. Just chill and be social. It’s not even ranked and noone is trying to shoot you anymore.

When the remaining players are looking for out-of-the way hiding spots to just wait out the clock on their offense round of One-Flag because they’re sick of just dieing instantly when the rocket guy sees them, let them.

some people like to dominate completely. just chilling is fun but to those who like the domination aspect, well they dont care if someone leaves (i know like 4 people like this).
personally having been the person on the other side of this because of 4 people, finding a place to hide is dishonorable. Fight till the end, even if they out number you! make them pay for every inch with taking at least one down.

Sorry, but fundamentally disagree with you.

When the game is over it’s over. There’s nothing “dishonorable” about accepting that and releasing the trigger. If anything it’s “dishonorable” to relentlessly slaughter players who aren’t fighting back anymore.

Some people have crap real lives so they need to feel like they’re a badass in a video game world.

if you couldn’t tell I was making a half joke.
if you want to be serious the fact is if you give up half way through because you think you will lose then you will lose. demoralization is the worst thing a team can have happen to it, next to disorganization. I have been on teams who won or lost based on those two things. If you keep going you may win, you don’t know, might lose by not so bad a margin. but if you give up, because of a death streak or teammates quitting, you Will lose.

When there’s no join in progress, it’s objective, and the other team has already secured the power weapons and are just sitting with sightlines on most of the respawn points. The game is over.

Slayer I understand, I don’t stop playing in Slayer. But One Flag? Naw that game is over.

If the enemy team gives up in an objective game type, I will just aim to end the game quickly, rather than hunt people down. In slayer however, kills are the objective so I won’t stop just because people give up and sit there. To me, that is also a poor mindset to give up because they are losing.

I agree that there are some pretty toxic people out there that will insult and shame others for not doing things their way. But I think it is just as toxic to sit there and not help the team out. They are refusing to participate and be a team player.

There are many forms of toxicity however. I think we can agree that the biggest, toxic, try hards are the ones who will run you over, steal weapons or sabotage because their team isn’t winning are the worst. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m all for someone quitting a game because they are frustrated, allowing others to join or bots to take over but I can’t agree with just them sitting around. It’s just a shame that it gets penalised with a potential ban in a social game type rather than just ranked.
