It seems that me and my friends can never just go and play halo 5 for fun anymore. You always have to sweat it out and play like its a bloody MLG tournament in all ranked playlists and solo play is pretty much impossible at higher ranks (diamond and above) it seems even on socials playlists that are designed so that you can HAVE FUN are full of complete sweats. The amount of times I’ve gone into game chat and cringe at the dorrito smelling kid who’s sat behind the mic calling out positions and talking tactics in social playlist is pathetic. To all the halo community- stop try Harding on social playlists, if your going to do that, play ranked at least
That’s because most playlists are laddered. The better you play, the higher the rank you get. Halo 5’s multiplayer was not primarily intended for casual play. And that’s going to carry over to the social playlists.
If you think Halo 5 is really competitive, you should have seen Halo 3.

Halo 3 and reach were by far the most fun I had in just social playlist, just a community made made map a laid back game mode and enjoyed spending hours and hours experiencing so many fun times, but even now with halo 5 and its “social” gamemodes still feel like I have to be at the edge of my seat thinking about every movement of the enemy team. I will have to say its good that 343 have nailed it with the competitive side but it would be nice if players could just relax and enjoy themselves
An unintentional consequence because 343 refuses to use an actual ranking system. If they simply would have some playlists with Numbered ranks and some social, you wouldn’t have the problem you’re having.

Uh, what makes the current system any different from “numbers and social”?
People can enjoy themselves and try to win at the same time. Who are you to dictate how a person is allowed to experience social?

Yes and those people can do that on the ranked playlists

How would that make a difference in any way?
To me the game is what you make it. I have played plenty of times just for fun. Go into btb, the social rotating playlist or warzone. Social snipers has been real fun. Got my gungoose comindation today in it.

Exactly, you can’t really just relax with some friends and have fun anymore, it’s way too competitive

For a start warzone is not the halo I enjoy cause it doesn’t feel like halo should do to me I enjoy the 4v4 small map style aspect

Well considering they made H5 to mainly cater to the competitive crowd of course it’s a competitive game

H5 and halo in general is competitive and skill based so you are going to run into some monsters when you get into matchmaking. Also I consider myself a tryhard so I find this a little offensive but to help out get the edge of skilled players like myself works by mixing up strategy, and skilled players like to specialize. I for example prefer small arms and mid-small ranged weapons get me at range and I’ll be caught off guard but be careful with this because I only prefer close combat I do have skill at range so I can turn it around for me, so apply this to other top players as well. They also like to monopolize power weapons the top player usually ends up with the power weapons a lot. Figure out where all power weapons are and make sure to check their spawnpoints as you go through the map. This should help also communicating with your friends should also help.

Yes but I’m saying that’s what the problem is, it needs to cater to the more social side of halo as well, you know the whole reason why halo used to be so successful. Now look at what’s happened- halo is dying cause the game is simply not enjoyable to play anymore, it always feels like a competition

Actually I always felt halo was so successful because of its competitiveness

I gave you advice that as we speak is turning my game experience around, but if you don’t want it I don’t care.
