Truth, Regret... But Where's Mercy?

After watching the Sprint episodes and seeing Truth and Regret (Truth’s Remix) I began to see some interesting connections. First off, my curiosity was in the naming of “Midship 2.0” (Truth). The map takes place on the Pious Inquisitor which at the time was Thel’s ship before becoming the Arbiter, so… why call it Truth when the Elites were always a favorite of Regret’s? Well, Thel killed Truth in Halo 3 with his very sword, which through some canon modification may have been the Prophet’s Bane, AND Regret just so happens to be covered in UNSC weapons and Human graffiti often seen on military planes. Hmmm, didn’t the epitome of the UNSC’s military strength kill the Prophet of Regret? What if we have yet to see another map which just so happens to be named after an ill-fated hierarch? What if the map known as Mercy is a map tailor made for the new rendition of the infection gametype known as… Flood? Imagine it… a multiplayer map just drowning in flood, AND imagine the fact that the Flood may also be making its return to the Campaign as well, what better time to make a flood setting MP map?

That’s all the more I really have on that, so what are your thoughts? Sound cool? Sound bad? Sound off!

Also, what are your opinions on the new idea to do map remixes? A little sidenote to take in, Empire is actually the remix of a map called Eden.

You’ve got some interesting theories here. It would be neat if they completed the Easter egg trifecta by giving us a flood themed MP map.

I’ve been saying Flood were coming back since before Halo 4 even launched. No one believes me.

“Didn’t we kill them all?”

Dead

I think it would be very interesting to the lore to have the maps tie in with the prophets’ timeline and death. If Mercy is a flood themed map like Cold Storage or Isolation ( I believe it’s called ) on Halo 3 that would be an amazing trio of lore nostalgia maps. I like it.

Mind…blown!

Got to admit that sounds like a great map idea.

The flood infested map sounds like a great map idea.

Already been done before its called ummmmm Halo 3 infection. But nice try troll

Actually I don’t think “Truth” was referring to the Hierarch. It probably refers to “The Seeker of Truth”, Thel’ Vadam(ee)'s flagship in the Fleet of Particular Justice. But you’re right in saying there is some canonical explanation behind the Prophet’s Bane, which is Thel’s personal sword. In the Sprint, it is also mentioned it was on it’s way to the first Halo, hence the hologram of the Pillar of Autumn, Alpha Halo and Threshold. As for Mercy… If we have 3 midship-like maps named after the 3 Hierarchs, my life would be complete.

Thels ship was actually called the seeker of truth if I remember the name correctly. It definitely wasn’t the pious inquisitor though. Other than that I think you have some good ideas about the maps. I think we will see one named mercy at some point.

Hey, if any moderators or admins see this, Eridanus II is doing his thing again.

Relax kid stop Trolling people. Your on your second account. Just Report MPM people and move on.

Excellent theory, it would definetly be fitting.

a flood infested map sounds amazing…though we already have 2 midships in this game it better not be a third one.

As long as we get flood covered weapons as alternate skins.

Really enjoyed the fact that they called the maps Truth and Regret. Surely this means that there will be Mercy as well.

I realize now the statement on the ship being the Pious Inquisitor is wrong, but i do believe it was established somewhere it was intended to be Pious at some point. OR, am i confusing a previous iteration of midship (not Zealot) being on the Pious?

I mean, it’s pretty clear that the map’s name is more so referring to the ship’s name than the Prophet, but the naming of its remix as Regret, and the episode that showcased both maps being titled “Prophets” kind of establishes “Truth” to have a double meaning.

I agree that seeing Mercy on a third “midship” would be repetitive and I think that another area of the ship should be utilized, but it’s also entirely possible to make “Mercy” and have it be an entirely different map seeing as Regret is a remix. Imagine if 343 is creating a new Prophet Heirarch in Halo 5’s campaign and Mercy’s remix will be named after him/her. (please, please be a her. I want some gender diversity in the alien species)

You got pretty close man
