I mean WOW. Talk about hard. I haven’t even finished it yet, and I’ve spent two and a half hours on it already. I’m nearly to Keyes, where I expect to revert to checkpoint over and over again before FINALLY getting it right.
The first section was pretty OK, nothing super challenging, except for right before going up the grav lift. And this part is what made me love CEA. (I never played CE.) I must have played that section ten or eleven times before finally killing all the covies, but I was loving every minute of it. Definitely one of the high points of the game.
And then we went up the grav lift.
Holy frig, that part was hard. The goldie zealots didn’t seem that hard to beat, but then, I had a needler and my sniper rifle. It was the jackals who were the toughest for me, not becasue they’d kill me but because they take forever to kill, and by the time I did kill one, I’m being overrun. Finally, finally, I cleared the area by blasting the covies as soon as their doors opened. I’m sure if I had the Bandanna skull on, it would have been MUCH easier.
Still. It took FOREVER. And I’m not even DONE yet.
When I first got the game as a kid, I beat it on easy in eight hours. I then made an attempt to beat the game on legendary…
Truth and Reconciliation took me twelve and a half hours. I still remember being stuck in the hangar section. I found it much easier this time, it only took me about two hours now, guess I’m a better player now then when I was a decade ago. If you need tips I would recommend the forums extreme youtube walkthrough or just watch the halo ce segmented speedrun. I learned a lot about this game from those videos.
I whole heartedly agree, I never played CE on Legendary so I didn’t know what to expect. Now, I had the Bandana Skull so before we went up the gravity lift I just spammed grenades. It worked extremely well. Just like you when entering the ship, even with infinite 'nades I got overrun about six times.
I’m not sure, but I think I had a Pistol and a Plasma Pistol, so yeah. That made it easier as well.
You’re not up to rescuing Keyes? Well, when you do get up to Keyes. Prepare to smash your controller, Keyes frustrated me so much from his idiocy I had to get a second controller and push Keyes back so he didn’t run into a grenade or a grunt. That’ll probably take longer then the entire level.
If you’re not using the noob combo, that’s why you aren’t getting past it :P. Still CE Legendary is a hard beast to tame, not sure if mythic is possible with the eye patch skull…
EDIT: If you want to cheese through it, just turn on Bandana. You still get achievements even with this skull turned on :P.
Oh man, I have one word for the Keye’s Section on Legendary. RAGE! Lol The guy is suicidal. I can’t remember how many times I had to do that section because of him. It was a lot though. Make sure as you clear sections that you backtrack and wait for checkpoints. It may be time consuming, but it’ll save you a lot of grief. Good luck!
I was playing a solo compaign of Truth and Reconcilliation on Legendary and I finished it, saw the cut scene, and the game froze on “Saving. Please don’t turn off your system.”
Horrified, I waited an hour hoping it was some process that would finish itself, but no, it was completely frozen. Powered off then back on and went to see what the damage was and sure enough, it did NOT give me credit for finishing the level. swear words would go here if they were allowed So I waited a day or two, then tackled it again, finished it, the game didn’t freeze so I finally got the credit.

Indeed, I died walking out of the cryo bay on the first level >__< Boom skull needs to go die somewhere that no one will ever find it.
Yeah, it’s definitely one of the tougher missions due to the lack of a magnum. So weapon selection is everything, more-so than it normally is. Needlers do not do anything to Jackals, so that explains your problem.
I don’t remember this level being very hard. If you keep the sniper rifle and use it effectively on elites, it could make your life easier. The hallway areas are really easy if you have some plasma grenades. If you do end up running out of sniper rifle ammo when you are in the ship, pick up a plasma rifle.
The most challenging level on solo legendary for me was Two Betrayals. But… that may have been because I was going for the achievements on that level. Keyes is also pretty hard towards the beginning.
OP, Escorting keyes on legendary breaks lesser men(or women). Move fast to keep the moron from making suicide runs into enemy fire. In the halls, banking nades off the walls helped keep me out of harms way and kept keyes back. If you can tame this level, you should be able to handle the rest of the game.
The plus side about escorting Keyes is that literally all of the Elites on the way back to the hanger are unsuspecting and easy to throw a plasma nade on. Plus, if you run then they won’t ever get close to Keyes.

Nice tip, and yea I did the whole thing on Legendary like twice…wait till you get to “Two Betrayls” and “Keyes” !!! Super Fun tho honestly ! Enjoy =)

I really dreaded playing ‘Keyes’ on the original. But with the new lighting and graphics… it’s probably my favorite mission.
