I think 343 did an awesome job with trueskill in this game. It seems like every game Im matching people of my skill level and the majority of the games are pretty competitive. I also notice that I match other parties a lot more frequently when searching in a party myself, making the games even more competitive.
My only wish is that once the ranked playlists make their way into matchmaking, the social playlists tone down the trueskill matching. Dont get me wrong, most of the time I like searching with a team, matching other teams and having a good competitive game. But then other times I feel like just searching alone and not having to match other higher skilled players trying their hardest. Also, most of my real life friends are terrible at Halo but I still love to play with them. But when i search with them we match much better people than them and just get demolished which isn’t fun for anyone on our team.
To put it simply, keep the current trueskill system in the ranked playlists, remove them from the social lists. The best thing Halo 3 had going for its ranked/social system. I think every halo fan can agree with that and it would be nice to have it back.
