True Skill System

Why did they abandon True skill? halo2 introduced it, Halo3 Expanded and improved on it and even attached exp ranks to it which was a bonus. It was addicting as hell.
And as infuriating as it was leveling down leveling up was a rush of dopamine every time which kept me returning day after day playing after work for hours just to raise one to skill two ranks.

After H3 just vanished then we get placement MMR which it find boring don’t really have incentive to keep playing after placement which is why halo5 was my least played halo.

I know the system had its flaws but c’mon it could have been improved on… Since when does Halo follow trends or follow what other games are doing. Halo MADE THE TRENDS it Revolutionized Console gaming and Halo2 basically was the precursor to xbox360 xbox live.

TrueSkill wasn’t abandoned. After Halo 5 launched the matchmaking team introduced TrueSkill 2,whichbis a much improved version of skill matching, including much faster detection of skill levels.

MMR has always been a thing in Halo, since Halo 2. It’s not a new concept. Under the hood Halo 5 used the same system and pretty much the exact same code as Halo 3, that should pretty much be the case for Infinite too - though with additional learnings that Josh Menke and his team found while working through Halo 5 and weren’t able to implement
