I’ve been playing halo since the very first day Halo Combat Evolved first hit the shelves. Throughout the years each halo game has had its own aspect of the game to bring back gamers for years after the launch date.
Halo Combat Evolved had gamers cramming into each other’s living rooms, bedroom and dorms to play system link for hours on end.
Halo 2 brought us the very first TRUE SKILL ranking system, though it was a little buggy. It never stopped me from getting on every day and play with my friends for hours for that elusive 50.
And Halo 3 probably the best FPS if not the greatest game I’ve ever played. The reason why? The TRUE SKILL RANKING SYSTEM. Again, I played every single day after I got out of football/basketball practice. The goal was to get your 50, it always was. It made the game that much more competitive. Not your K/D, certainly not your ‘’experience points’’.
And then came Halo Reach, it my opinion a huge let down. Don’t get me wrong though during the beta, I loved it. Then the game came out, went home skipped all my classes that week to stay home play every playlist, beat the campaign ect. But after awhile the matchmaking was uneventful, dull, lackluster and there wasn’t anything that made me want to come back to halo reach. The pressure of HAVE TO WIN, TO RANK UP, over either way I’m getting credits to buy whatever from the armory. Its not the same I don’t believe it will bring as many people back 6 months down the line of the release date. Some people may think I’m over stating things or over exaggerating. But I wanted to show my matchmaking history through my gamertags for the halo series and show the dramatic drop off in playing time.

My point simply is that having EXP, credits or whatever you want to call it to be the main purpose to bring people back to matchmaking I don’t think its going to work. I know I certainly will stop playing as I did with halo reach. So, please 343 Studios I am not asking to get rid of EXP playlists, but find a way to bring back TRUE SKILL RANKING SYSTEM. If anyone else fells like this poll, comment or reply to get our point across and bring back true skill rank. after all we are the ones playing the game.

I think 343 knows what they’re doing. Let them make their game.
I’m pretty sure derankers and boosters who only care about 50s cause of the killing eye of society will LOVE to have a ranking system like Halo 3.

i do agree reach didnt keep me interested but halo 3 did and thats cause it was fun to play with friends and custom games were awesome and my skill rank was only 22 your reasoning for playing is invalid

There’s literally no pont in posting things like this in the forums. Don’t get me wrong, I completely agree with you and think that Halo 4 will be a lot worse off without trueskill ranks. But, the majority of people lurking on the forums are the type who enjoy Living Dead, get happy over a 2.0 on anything, prefer campaign to MM and probably never got above 40 in H3 or H2. Basically, all you’re gonna get is hate because these people hate the system because it didn’t benefit them.

Thats wrong and very hypocritical.
You see, petitions here are against the rules and are quite annoying in general (even though i am for ranking systems, this is not the way to go).

Guys this isn’t actually a petition for God’s sake. He’s just trying to get a hold of the public general opinion. So calm down and stop trying to get it locked just because you don’t agree with him.
Hey, what’s the difference? Seriously. You earn XP from your SKILLS. So if you have TRUE SKILL then you will earn more XP.
And listen. I have friends who really suck at Halo, but enjoy it anyway. This XP ranking system is perfect for players like that.

Oh dear… I have a friend who is an Inheritor. Yet, I still outpace him all the time, destroy him in 1v1s, play smarter than him and have better understanding of the game an him. I’m only a Forerunner.
I also have a friend who had 3000 EXP on H3. I had 1200. I outpaced all the time, destroyed him in 1v1s, played smarter and had a better understanding if the game than him. I also had a higher trueskill level than him.
Moral of the story: EXP as a ranking system is broken whereas trueskill is less so.

OT: you all realize there is a hidden trueskill system right? you see it but no one else does. this system is meant to pair you with similarly skilled players. so YES there is a trueskill system. and whom ever you are paired with in MM is either the same or similar to rank as you. if you are THAT content on people knowing about your trueskill rank. then brag about it. you dont need a visible trueskill rank just to prove that you have skills. if you want to prove your “true skill” then do good in your MM games. stop complaining about no trueskill when there is a trueskill ranking system. it just doesnt work the same as in past games.

You do realize Reachs ranking system had nothing to do with your skill but how much time you dedicated to the game right?
