True Skill Matchmaking

Why doesnt 343 want to implement the matchmaking system that all the actual good players like? What happened to the Halo 3 and Halo 2 true skill rankings. At least they gave some sort of idea of how good someone is rather than basing it off of number of games played.

Here goes the ‘‘Trueskill bomb’’ again…

I heard that trueskill is in Halo 4.

I’m a good player and I didn’t like the system. It only reflected wins not individual skill.

Trueskill is in Reach, you just have to view your profile online to see it. And I don’t know accurate it is, it says I’m a 100. I mean I pretty good but I wouldn’t think I’m 100 good.

You know what man, as long as I finish in first place, that’s all the proof I need to say I’m a good player.

1-50 promoted boosting, making the rest of the system less effective.

Thats why they’re not using it.

And they are using a trueskill system, its more refined and is said to work somewhat differently than Reach. Hopefully we can assume that means it will work better. We just don’t know how they plan to do the actual ranks, other than its not 1-50 or Arena.

Halo 2 used ELO, not trueskill, but anyway…

Halo 4 will be using Trueskill matchmaking in certain playlist to match players of similar skill. The difference is that your trueskill rating will only be visible to you, and won’t affect your global rank, and honestly, that’s how it should be. The second you turn a skill rating into a rank, you defeat the purpose of a skill rating.

Agreed.

you do know that any game that uses xbox live uses truskill right

> You know what man, as long as I finish in first place, that’s all the proof I need to say I’m a good player.

But you could have been backpacked the whole game

As Buck would say ‘‘BAM said the lady’’

I Agree on agreeing.

^That

None of the call of duties use true skill. I know because my friends and I have to play gamebattles to find a challenge. 1-50 at least you knew the good players would be 50 and the not so good players would have to pay for it or just face their rank.

Finishing first place isn’t always proof you’re good; you might have been playing terrible players.

The only thing wrong with the halo 2 system was the modders. But they had nothing to do with the ranking, just the way the set up the game.

Your BPR is not TrueSkill. It’s not even close. I always set my restrictions to “skill”, and in my most recent game no one on the enemy team had a BPR over 45. Mine is 63…

Thats the problem with 1-50, you got credit for winning, nothing more.

You can camp the whole game and you get rewarded for being “skilled”.

Maybe he was referring to being first place in the game. Like having the most kills or most captures. Usually, unless you camped, that shows some skill.

I second that…

> Finishing first place isn’t always proof you’re good; you might have been playing terrible players.

That means that you’re good amongst terrible players. Either way, WIN/WIN, because if you’re not first then you are last. :=P

Trueskill is essentially ELO. They both use the exact same principles, mathematically and idealistically.
