True Classic Playlists?

Personally I find it kind of redundant saying this a little redundant considering Halo had always been an arena style game. The fact that aspect of gaming has pretty much been omitted from matchmaking; while members of 343i continued to say it was still an Arena Shooter leads me to believe they don’t entirely know what it means anymore.

Please forgive the condescending joke link. I know 343i knows what it is, but I think they just bent everything to fit in the Halo 4 box trying to please everyone including the CoD burnout players and make them stay.

To make this short and sweet, I will give a couple points that I yoinked from this thread.

  • All players spawn with equal opportunity when it comes to player ability and potential allowing for predictability in encounters.
  • Players are not given weapons, items or abilities through pre-selected loadouts but instead must fight to attain the ones that are placed on the map.
  • Weapons and items are placed on the map in such a way as to influence map movement and player positioning.
  • There are no defined roles or specializations for players in the game; everyone is the same and only their play style and skill can influence their performance in game.

Personally this game does not really feel like an Arena Shooter to me when playing Infinity slayer game types. The only power weapons I go for are Snipers and Incineration Cannon. And they don’t even spawn right off the bat on most maps so all I do is kinda camp with a DMR and get my own.

But that’s not the issue here for me. Infinity slayer is a good game type that does need some tweaks, but what I am asking is, do we want say a 4v4/8v8 playlist that captures the true essence of the previous games?

I personally do want that very bad. It’s the reason I don’t play BTB anymore, you can use a warthog or ghost without instant fiery explosions of death.

My suggestions for them now are as follows:

  • Call them what they are, either Team Slayer/Social Slayer or BTB/Social BTB
  • Only AR/Magnum or BR/Magnum loadouts.
  • Undecided on run. Maybe just have a but faster player speed.
  • Same respawn timers as previous games.
  • Objectives in them.
  • Predictable weapon drops in the same location.
  • Radar that covers the same area as the previous games. I forget what it was, maybe 15 or 20m? And now it’s like 25m? Doesn’t matter, they bumped it up and for a remake playlist it should be the same.
  • Power ups, Damage Boost can even be there just as long as it spawns on the map in relatively neutral locations.

With all that said, I’m not a veteran player stuck in the mud. I do like change, but I also like the history in the game too, we were promised a ‘classic’ style playlist which is Slayer Pro, which halfways is a classic playlist, it just gets more boring faster than Infinity Slayer for me.

I just want a playlist that really shows where Halo came from along side the new Halo.

I think HALO 5 has the potential to be great but it needs a few tweaks here and there
