Unplaced/unranked Arena teammates are like a REQ pack and you don’t know what you’re getting. When half your team is unplaced you can end up with low ranked teammates. Then you lose and derank.
Idea: Keep placement players separate in placement matches.
If wins and losses weren’t the way to rank up, then it wouldn’t be as much of a problem.
Just played my first 10 games with 3 unranked players and we were pretty much getting matched up against platinum and diamond players for most games. I can usually hold my own in Halo and go positive most of the time, but I’m unfamiliar with the maps, weapon spawns and have a crap internet connection, so playing against players already ranked and familiar with the game seems a tad unfair. Not worth making a big deal about but new players should play against new players, so you have an equal learning curve.
Only problem I see with this is people going into the playlists with their friends who may be ranked and they’re not. Would you just not allow them to start searching unless they are all either non-placed or placed? If so, how would that effect the end-user experience? Just some food for thought, that it’s not as easy to implement as people think it is.
Placement matches were just a -Yoink- idea in the first place, to be fully honest. When unplaced teammates can impact your performance for better or worse, then the ranking system has you placed wrong, doesn’t it?
10 games doesn’t take very long for a player to get placed. Then he/she can team with friends whatever rank they get. 343 isn’t barring friends with different ranks from teaming, so it would just mean the player getting ranked before teaming up.
I agree it’s not the end all issue, it’s just a matter of having your time respected as a solo player who relies on other teammates to have a chance to win. The bigger problem is ranking being all about wins. That was 343’s decision, so help us out and give us three other teammates at our level, not two unknowns.
I was placed wrong, should be higher lol. But i don’t mind. 
how would you know if someone is ranked or unranked in the pre game lobby? The only thing u can see is the annoying emblem! The lobby sucks so much
You dont get to see in the pre-game lobby…you check the post game stats and you can see the level of players you’ve just played or teamed up with.
You can see your teammates rank. I’ve seen it, either right before the game or after/scoreboard. I forget.

The matchmaking system can put unplaced players in placement games until they’re given a rank. We would get teammates who have been placed, that’s the suggestion. How is that not doable. A lot harder stuff is being done in matchmaking than that.

No that isn’t what I’m saying.
Once the games been out for a while people will start moving to the rank they belong at I got placed much to low in slayer and moved up 4 ranks in like 2 days
