Tried Ranked Slayer: Loved How Fair It Was!

For casual folks like me who have been hesitant to play Ranked matches, I’m very happy to report that I bit the bullet, tried it out, and was surprised to find that it felt extremely fair and white-knuckle close almost every round. After hearing that Ranked matchmaking was tighter, I gingerly entered with a friend, and we ended up having a lot of fun and feeling like every loss was fair. I really recommend a couple matches to everyone like me who doesn’t normally play anything besides the more relaxed large-team or custom modes.

I can’t play ranked because I always some how end up with less skilled teammates and it’s always a slaughter. Every now and then I’ll have a good match and win, but it’s rare. I play mostly social because of this, but I feel like it’s unfair because I feel I’m an above average skilled player. But who wants to go to ranked and lose all the time? Now I have noticed if I’m in ranked with a friend or two the matches seem much more close and as you said the losses seem fair.

Knowing that someone had a blast never fails to put a smile on my face. Way to go, man!

I know it’s hard to shake off a terrible match every now and then, but the old saying goes; Every dog has its day.

Glad you liked it! I also find it is fun earning your competitive ranking once you complete ten matches, and then trying to increase it!

How about some HCS them? Couldn’t hurt. I’m glad you had a good experience in Ranked. I have been playing in every season except one, and this one has to be the best in terms of even matches for me.

I’m not sure it’s always fair. I hang around Gold 4-6, and more often than not end up facing high Platinum or even low Diamond players.

However, I feel less salty about losing when I can see the other team highly outmatches me. In addition, it’s a lot more satisfying when I actually win against these teams. So there’s the good with the bad, overall not too miffed about the matchmaking. Losing never really bothers me, and I usually do pretty decent, so not a lot to complain about.

That’s great that you have a nice balanced match in a ranked playlist.

For me, it’s usually a lopsided match for me as I’m mostly solo-queueing and facing a full organise fireteam of 4 or someone partying somebody who has a smurf account in their team to the point I gave up and just stayed at BTB for games even it’s social. But it’s great to hear that you’re having balanced matches in competitive playlists.

That title just sounds trollish but hey if you had good luck then cheers!

Who payed you to say this

Same for me, with the exception that i play solo almost everytime.

@OP When i first read the title, i expected sarcasm lol.

I believe slayer has the highest population of all the ranked playlists so matchmaking should be pretty balanced and more enjoyable than some of the other lists.

As a mainly solo player, the matchmaking system has flaws. Lots of flaws. I like competitive game play. Close matches where it’s down to the last kill… But when a team of “gold” ranked players dominates a group of random diamonds & platinums… There’s something wrong. Smurf accounts…

I have to agree with OP. Ranked play at least tries to put you against equal level skill. It’s not always perfect but you at least feel competitive. Playing social like BTB or Warzone often results in getting completely destroyed.

Thank you! Now I see the appeal. This is literally the first ranked video game activity I’ve ever done, and it’s a fun experience!

I’m usually diamond 5-6 and only play solo. I usually get paired with pretty awful team mates. If the connection is reasonable I still have fun even if we lose by a lot but nothing is worse then the current lag fest halo 5 has become. I’ve never had the game skip and lag so bad but it’s almost unplayable at times. I get paired against teams of onyx all the time against me and plats. I’ve even played against full squads of champions and I was diamond 3. But even that doesn’t bother me that much if the lag isn’t there.

Yeah it’s extremely fair, one time I played free for all and I was unranked and I ended up losing dead last to a bunch of onyx ranked people. Halo 5’s fairness is impeccable.
