Tried Playing in the Global Championship...

So I registered for the Global Championship thinking I’m pretty good at Halo and I might have a small chance. I was wrong. About 15 games in, I can see I have no chance of competing. Either everyone is lag switching, hacking, or I suck compared to true Halo players.

In normal matchmaking, I am at the top of the leader board 4/5 games, but in Global Championship the best I got was 2nd place, probably 4 games at 3rd place, the rest 4th and 5th. I think I’m going to jump out at this point and save my frustration.

How is everyone else doing in the tournament?

I’m not even in… I was rocking 1st and second place a lot and then realized my account can’t be registered cause of my email address change and gamertag change.

of 10 games, I got 4th place 4 times, 2nd 3 times and 3rd 3 times

I have no chance. I get spawned killed a lot and it makes me really mad

Such is the reality of a tournament. It sucks getting that feeling that you’re not as good as you think you are but that is the purpose of a tournament. The best thrive and the rest do not.

I guess I am doing ok. I am ranked 1600 ish with a 7.1 score. I can’t believe with the randomness of FFA’s that people have played 66 games straight and haven’t loss a single game.

Eeh I’m having the same problem, almost always finish on the top in normal playlists, but in global championship I’m failing.

There is defo a higher percentage of ppl using lag switches and such being that there is money involved though. I’ve seen a few ppl already fireing off battle rifle bursts like its an automatic lol.

I’ve been trying to use the battle rifle and I always lose the fight, I can sink like 6 bursts into someone and just barely get there shields down…then when I watch a killcam of someone killing me, it only takes 4-5 bursts, and half the time there cross hairs aren’t even aimed on me.

I’m just going to play my 20 games per week then go back to infinity slayer lol.

Wow. That’s impressive. My score is 5.3 after 13 games.

Like I said before, I think I’m just gonna quit now and spare myself the frustration because no matter how hard I concentrate, I just can’t win.

I’m playing harder than I ever play in normal games, and still getting owned. I would have liked to win and buy myself a Bugatti, but oh well.

They arent lag switching, they are just shooting the br as fast as possible and are hitting all 4 shots. The kill time is 1.37 seconds. Think about that.

Havent we already gone over how the killcam sucks in h4 and you should never rely on it to see how you died?

On top of all of that, dont expect to win. An actual halo pro is going to win. Not a random person who likes to play infinity slayer

Luckily for me, I live in Tennessee and can’t even register to play in the Global Championship so I’ll never get to learn how bad I really am.

edit - not trying to be a -Yoink-, but OP you’re only like +1100 not really good enough to go against the real MLG’ers that are showing up to win the $200k prize, I played one game with a real pro-MLG in Reach once, and the skill gap between them and us is astrononimcal.

And, just for the record … to all the people complaining about “lag switches” and the like. Just because someone beats you doesn’t mean they cheated. They’re just better than you. And me.

I haven’t registered and I may not bother, but then again I might.

Besides that, I’ve played one game and came first. I retire as champion.

I know it not lag switching, I know what lag switching is yes. THey are using a switch mod oh there controllers for the brs, u can see em advertised, “Rapid Fire” trust me I know the difference betwe burst–burst–burst and burstburstburst. Im not saying everyone is cheating, I was just stating there are going to be more doing it as there is money involved.

You cant rapid fire guns in Halo.

Rapid fire controllers are controllers that are modded so that the controller thinks the trigger is being depressed as fast as possible. This can turn many guns into automatics.

It happens offten in games like COD or BF where many single fire guns shoot as fast as the player can pull the trigger. But with Halo all weapons have a set fire rate and no matter haw fast you depress the trigger it will not shoot faster. So rapid fire controllers are useless in Halo.

You are probably not used to playing people who don’t miss that much and when they are hitting all their shots you fell like you are dieing faster than you should.

Good luck if you aren’t bridging for host or making sure you have host before you commit to the map. The top people in the tournament are rank 8 and destroying. As halo is 70% internet and 30% skill I try not to pay tournaments like this to much mind. The last tournament was how many games can you win in 3 months. Just have several people play your account is what it amounted too and win a truck!

Where cam I watch some gameplay/ rankings or anything dealing with the tournament. I have a few more yrs b4 they let me join.

I’ve entered and pulling a 2nd place average…not half bad for an average gamer. Some of those lag filled games I wanna leave but I don’t because leaving counts as a zero score and messes with your average score, 8is the highest and I need one more game to qualify. currently running a 7.158 score average.

At first I would enter if I was age (17 and my b-day is in august. Sucks missing out on this tourney), then I thought to myself kids under the age are just going to enter and no life it. So my assumption is that a kid that can’t even buy the game alone is going to win this and some how get away with it. Would have been nice to enter but I’m going to stick to respecting the qualifications.

Same here dude. I’m not gonna be qualified for a while but I would still like to play… Even though I wouldn’t stand a chance. But oh well. There will be more tourneys I’m sure!

This is true, but I was looking at the leaderboards of the championship, to see who was winning and by how much, clicked on their name and it said that account was made/joined on the 16th of July. I like “Seriously? You couldn’t make it any more obvious that you might be under the age to qualify”. There was another made prior to the tournament by 1 day. Its just one of my nerves that gets struck seeing this. Its like you just wanna ask them for their BS excuse on why they aren’t playing on their original account. I did some looking at the current 1st place holder, they have the Mark IV helmet but have completed zero campaign missons, Im like “._.”

It’s more likely that someone created a new account to show off his skills while still being low level. There’s no way some kid who is under-aged could start play Halo 4 in July and instantly be a pro, unless he was hacking.

I could believe that but their account could be under aged and they made a new one to be in the tournament. That’s just another theory though I like yours better. But it makes me wonder if he is modifying his profile because he doesn’t have the campaign beat on Legendary yet he has the Mark IV helmet.
