Trick Jumps in Halo 4

I remember hearing about this during an overview on haven, where players could access shortcuts through trick jumps, but I haven’t seen much discussion on it. I’m assuming this is similar to bunny-hopping or spring jumping in Reach. What I wonder is how will these be implemented? Is it a physics “glitch” that allows players to reach extended heights/distances, which is similar to 3/reach? Or is it an actual element in the game?

If none of this has been confirmed or mentioned, what are your opinions on trick jumps in Halo?

It will just be regular old jumps I bet or at most crouch jumps. Think of them as more like the ‘secret’ jumps for alternative map traversal that are not immediately obvious. Similar to the jump you can use to on zealot to get from the floor to each base on that sort of curved pillar thing.

They’re map design elements, nothing more. However, my opinion on trick jumping? It needs more support from the developer end. The movement physics of Reach weren’t as good as they were in Halo 2 and 3 which resulted in any kind of trick jumping be pretty boring. It was also a fault of the map design as they didn’t really have interesting shortcuts. I’d definitely like to see more support for trick jumping because Reach really wasn’t good for that unlike its predecessors.

you can still do loads of trick jumps in Reach it is just must people don’t bother because very few of them were particularly useful in matchmaking unlike Halo3. You can still do Slide Jumps, Bunny hops, spring jumps, over jumps, ramp jumps as well as concussion rifle jumps, evade and sprint jumps. We lost ghost jump but the biggest reason for trick jumping dying was the jet pack.

I know a couple of trick jumps on the multiplayer maps. However, only two of them I remember to be actually practical and the other is a very basic one that probably majority of players know. As far as all the special jumps based on the physics go: yes, they’re still there, but they aren’t as good as they were in previous Halo games.
