Triangle Back Grunts

Please 343 fix the Grunts in Halo 5. The Grunts in Halo 4 just did not feel like Grunts, I could look at every other Covenant enemy and they would look and feel like they are meant to but the Grunts (in my opinion) are just not the same without their traditional triangular methane tanks on their backs as well as their gas masks. I want those grunts to return, not those demonic midgets we got in Halo 4.

The only possible reason for the grunts to be that way… I would think is because they are the Covenant Remanent and they can’t manufacture supplies on a massive like the Original Covenant did, so they use hammy downs/or use cheap supplies…

I highly doubt that using cheaper supplies dictates what shape their methane tanks turn out to be. The grunts can still keep their run down thrown together armor, just make their tank triangular and give them masks.

Which we can shoot off yeey

Ok, the triangle pack still made it past concept though, and those cylinder like tanks were in Halo Reach. 343 does not need to do away entirely with different shaped tank Grunts, as I view that they add variety, but the triangle back ones need to return and need to be the standard ones while those other grunts can be higher ranks.

I think they needed a design to differentiate the grunts in the Remnant from the grunts in the Covenant that we fought before, which is why even their skin is different now … I mean, they have scales instead of exoskeletons; that’s quite a change … maybe a bit much.

I personally think the Halo 4 grunts are kind of cute … which is weird, I guess. And if they took the drastically different looking Halo 4 grunt and put a triangle tank on it, I’m sure we’d still be able to tell the difference. So I’m cool with it.

That picture wasn’t meant to make a point, I was just sharing because of the subject matter. Sharing is caring.

I understand this, I don’t mean they have to take the scales away, or even change the design of their armor, just make the default ones have a triangle shaped tank and either their old gas mask or something similar to it and that can be the standard ones we encounter with a few of the rounded off tanks and bulb tanks.Better yet, there are a variant of the Halo 4 grunts that has some form of mask on which hides their face and it has a gas mask on it, so just take those grunts and give them a triangular tank, problem solved.

They changed the look because it has been 6 years, and technology evolves over time. It has gotten better. The mask is less obstructive on the Unggoy now, and their harness now has a built in jetpack thingy.

This change is fine, there is no need to revert back to the war-era harnesses cuz “muh nostalgia” or “they looked better”.

This comes from someone, who quite obviously, loves him some Unggoy.

A different faction of Covenant is most likely to have different armor.

Remember, “a lot can happen in 4 years”.

Lol. The second grunt looks like he’s wearing a beer keg on his back.

i don’t think they will return unless we start fighting the covenant empire again in halo 5 (unlikely).
im sure you know the grunts we see in halo 4 is part of the covenant remnant which is why the elite and grunt armour is different, but im sure you already know this.

Had they gone with that design, I could think of 1000 different easter eggs associated with it.

Those would be the best jokes ever…of all time.

If I was a Grunt, then I’d find a tube going through my face and down my throat to be more obtrusive than a simple mask. Maybe that’s just me.

Honestly, this part is all about personal preference. If the artists want to make pyramidal methane tanks because they think it would look cool, they can. If fans want the old design to return because they think it looked better, it can be done for that very reason.

The only problem with Halo 4’s Grunts that isn’t personal preference is the abomination that is their anatomy. They’re a mix of what used to be Arthropods with Reptilian, and Mammalian features. Not only does it make absolutely no sense for the homeworld they came from, it’s just plain disturbing. It’s been said before, but they look like Wretches from Gears of War.
