Trial on Xbox store false advertisement

So my girlfriend told me Friday that the Xbox store had a promotion for a trial regarding halo 5. After you guys bombed the last 2 games, I love halo enough to want to try it out. I spent 4 days downloading it bc of the crap internet I have and now I don’t get to try it because now I have to get some bs game pass that is allegedly through you guys according to Microsoft customer services. I’ve called 6 different phones, got disconnected multiple times, and got crap customer service to find all this out. Please help because I loved halo when it was with bungie, but still wanted to give you guys a fair chance. It didn’t even say in the Xbox store that the trial was only available for the weekend and then I have to get some pass to be able to play. Please help and thanks for your time.

There was a Free to play weekend that started last Thursday and ended either Sunday or Monday.I’m guessing that is the 'trial you were referring to. It’s unfortunate if you weren’t able to take advantage of that to give the game a try; hopefully microsoft will decide to do another at some point in the future. However you are mistaken that it was advertised as F2P weekend. Game pass is a subscription service through microsoft. You pay a monthly free and have access to a bunch of games.

I just have the gold membership, but the restrictions weren’t stated on the store to be able to see that and if that’s the case, why allow me to download it in the first place?

I assume you started downloading it during the trial and were unable to play it before the end of it. i had a similar experience during a F2P weekend of another game, I downloaded it and didn’t have the opportunity to play it till the weekend was over. It was unfortunate, but nothing more. The ‘restrictions’ of it being a F2P weekend were clearly stated and advertised.

97GB over the span of 4 days is ridiculous for a trial. If I’m allowed to download the whole damn game, I should be allowed to at least try it out. Or they need to make better notice on the restrictions and actually enforce them. But this is complete and utter bs after the hours I spent trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

It wasn’t all that clear if my girlfriend was thorough about reading it and it didn’t show it in the Microsoft game store. It is completely frustrating and customer service is a damn joke. So if it’s all the same to you, I’d like to wait for a 343 member to reply to this thread please. Thanks for commenting and enjoy your day.
