Halo 5 needs to transition from the master chief to you and your customized Spartan. The chief’s amazing but i wanna be the hero of the universe maybe even with the help of master chief. halo 5 could have parallel storylines with your Spartan 4 and master chief, and when they cross paths the chief could be an AI in your S4 campaign, and your customized S4 could be an AI in the chiefs campaign.
Nope. The Reclaimer Trilogy or Saga or whatever is about John. I think his story is far from over, especially with all the Spartan Ops events and the Precursors’ test looming in the future. And honestly I prefer it this way. Maybe we could get a side game for that kind of stuff (maybe a bridge between Halo 5 and 6).

I’m sorry but I could not disagree more. I have no interest in the Spartan IV story just like I had no interest in being Noble 6 in Halo Reach. Halo IS about the master Cheif and transitioning into a new main character would be a horrible idea.

I disagree
After Halo 3, I’d have preffered to see Cheifs story end. He should still be in the games, but not the main character.
Halo 3 went full circle. It started (almost) the same way CE started, and ended the same way CE ended. It should have left off there, with 343i starting on a semi-blank slate of characters.
Changing the personalities of the characters we knew and loved wasn’t a good idea in the least. Cheif never talked that much before, so why is he suddenly carrying conversations?
I feel like they should have started with Spartan Thorne as the protagonist this game. Master Cheif would be just as Cortana said; A monument to all your sins. He would be a monument to the crimes Dr. Halsey commited, a monument to show what had happened in the past and what would not be allowed to happen again.
Thorne would be the new Hyper lethal spartan. The next step in the program that halsey created and the next step for Mankind. The game would go through Halseys attempts to recreate her success with the Spartan II project, while maintaining the humanity of her subjects.
Rather than humanizing a dehumanized character, we could have built on to pre-existing characters and used cheif as an example for what was not allowed to happen again. This would have given them far more lee-way for personality and character development.
Believe me, I like Cheif and the Spartan II’s, but if we’re humanizing things, I’d say cheif should have been the last place to start.
Actually, I would love a Halo game where I didn’t play as the Master Chief and got to play another Spartan. They should make Sarah Palmer the main character of the next Halo.
SAID NO ONE EVER.
But seriously, the main series is about the Master Chief. That’s just the way it is. If they want to do other characters, do spinoffs.
I do agree with the guy who’s saying they shouldn’t be characterizing the Master Chief, though. He’s never been meant to be a “character” as much as he is a vessel for the player. Trying to give him a character is just misguided and misunderstands the whole point of the Master Chief.
I think chief should still be the main character and yes, I think their should be SOME integration with our spartan 4’s. It isnt a bad idea actually. I just don’t agree with the part where WE save the world. It would be better if our character did a major supporting role then be made into the main character.
How about we keep master chief cause he is awesome, and instead make 2,3,and 4 player their own spartans.

This notion hasn’t worked from the beginning, because from the very start he’s had a name, a history, a voice and a life totally separate from mine, with his own distinct personality, no matter how underdeveloped it was. He may have been “meant” to be a vessel, but the reality is he’s a pretty -Yoink- vessel and works better as a character.
Characterization can only improve this story.
