Transferrable bonus content?

As I’m trying to get every item possible in the Armory, I’ve managed to get the Recon Helmet ($15.00) and the Elite Officer ($30.00) through amazon, but I’m stuck in finding the UA/Multithreat chest anywhere besides on eBay for a whooping $100.00 (and I would get it, but the only way to get that money is to take it all from my H4 limited edition preorder, and I AM NOT doing that). And so I asked a friend if he could send his to me via flashdrive. I offered $30.00 for just the file (yes, I’m that determined to get every item.)

Looking deeper into this, I went into the memory unit of my 360, and the bonus content file has no tag saying it’s registered to me, or anyone else, so my main question is: since the bonus content files have no owner as it says, will they work for any system and/or profile if you copy them? For example, if I was to bring a flashdrive with the bonus content on it to a friends house, copy it onto their hard drive without downloading my profile, and leave it like that, will they be able to use the content, even if they didn’t download it themselves?

Another question is that if I can do this, should I keep the file with the chestpiece on a separate memory unit? I would put it on the 360, but I’m unsure whether it will overwrite my Recon helm and Elite Officer or will combine with it (most likely it will overwrite, I think). And this brings me to a different topic, but I’ll post that elsewhere later on.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. That’s not how it works with Reach map packs or Halo Wars DLC, however it did work with the Johnson firefight character in ODST. Which means, it wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot. Worst case is that it doesn’t work, which means that my below answer is moot.

If the content has the same name, it will overwrite the existing content. Otherwise it will just be added alongside your existing content. I wouldn’t worry about accidentally deleting your content though, as long as you acquired it through your own account. If that is the case, you can always go back into your download history from the dashboard and re-download the content. So, you can probably try putting it on your console.

If it overwrites, keep it on the flash drive and re-download what you overwrote from your download history.
If it doesn’t overwrite, happy camping. No hassles of an extra flash drive all the time.

Good luck!

 Then I guess we find out once I get it. Hopefully the $30.00 doesn’t go to waste, because I’m not sure if he’ll return it once I give it to him…

Anyway, I’m going to do a test run on my idea for putting the Recon Helm and the Officer Elite on another friend’s Xbox. If this works, then no worries (I have an 8 GB flashdrive on my 360 anyway, since 4 GB doesn’t do you good enough when you got all the Map Packs for Halo 3, Halo Wars, and Halo Reach).

Thanks for the example. I’ll update this with the results to let anyone else know what happens (just in case they have the same idea).

And I’m thinking on the part with Sgt. Johnson… with the DLC in Halo Reach and Halo Wars, that is a purchase from the marketplace (save for the Anniversary Map Pack DLC code), used from the points under a specific account. But with Sgt. Johnson I’m pretty sure it was a code, meaning nobody purchased it through the Xbox; anybody could use the code right away without worrying about anything else. So I’m not sure whether it’s entitled to that person who downloaded it, or if it’s just downloaded.

I have all the armour items too. Legendary flames, eternal, elite officer armour, recon etc and a friend from the usa gave me a 2nd copy of the chest piece. Now I know its going for so much money I may wear it once in a while because I have never worn it.
