Personally I love this trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAiYiRH5fUk&feature=emb_rel_end
I realize that there is a difference between pre-rendered graphics in cut scenes and real-time rendering, but if this engine is as powerful as they say it is, wouldn’t it be possible to make the actual gameplay look and feel even slightly like linked trailer. I fully get that the gameplay demo is not the finished product and I’m even willing to bet that the demo is older than people think. I’ll also add that the demo did look fun, but when I compare what I see and how I feel while watching this trailer to the gameplay demo footage, it just feels like a ton is missing.
I know this very broad but I’m interested to see what everyone else has to say.
Note: I watched all trailers and gameplay footage in 4k 60fps
I’m 110% in agreement with you. I’ve watched the trailers/footage multiple times in the highest quality possible. I even slowed it down to 0.25 speed and back up to normal 1.0 speed to really analyze everything.
My opinion is that the demo showed off an obviously unfinished product. Financially, the point of a business is to sell a product to earn money. Well, they certainly sold me something but not a game. They sold me how they can show-off a hyped-up next-gen title on a next-gen game engine and yet still botch it. The gameplay graphics lacked texture, depth, lighting, or realism. I was very underwhelmed with what I saw.
That Banished Brute the Chief melees around the 4-minute mark is rapidly becoming a meme, and not for good reasons. The gameplay itself looked good. The graphics just need to seriously be worked on. And the Warthog’s engine sound NEEDS to sound gruffier/beefier, not some Subaru or Honda.

Yeah I also noticed the sounds of guns shooting and just various other things all sounded very similar. I found it really noticeable where any human gun was shot, good example is comparing the AR to the commando thing that chief picks up. Both weapons sound incredibly similar, both very dull/flat. Even just comparing Halo CE AR sound to infinite’s, CE’s sounds Way beefier, like some really fat bullets come out of that thing haha.
warthog could use a little beef too, it could use a little more rumbling and I guess ‘pitch’? It was hard to tell if it ever got up to full speed. I could see them not doing anything with this though because of the whole open world aspect to the game. I could see how driving in it for a while could potentially get annoying if its overbearingly aggressive sounding haha.

It’s very likely these are the same. The different position of the player with respect to the light makes the trailer look better at times (as the light is wrong/weird/unfinished) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7BeUTHa9XI
