Hey Waypoint,
Extra Credits over at Penny Arcade TV did an excellent video about toxicity and trash talking in games. Check it out here. Let me know what you think. We could apply this to Halo and Waypoint and make this a better community. Also, do you think trash talking is necessary?
Is it necessary?Perhaps. Then again perhaps not.Depends on the trash talk that is used.People seem to throw all trash talk into 1 bowl, which is no different than grading people as Casual(noobs/newbs) and Competitive(Pro’s/Elitist’s).Which of course is not the case.
There’s friendly trash talk between friends and random people in the lobby who all simply laugh and make fun of eachother. There is also competition trash talk when 2 groups of people who say things to make themselves seem like the better player. Then of course is the well known vulgar and hateful trash talk which is what everybody seems to be only remembering.
In short, yes i do think it’s necessary for socialization between allot of gamers. Not everyone can just comment and talk about life issues and things alike on a game. Most people enjoy talking smack with each other in a game especially FPS games.
Sorry for the drawn out explanation, but it is not a simple thing to say whether trash talk is necessary or not in a video game.Since because it is a video game, trash talking has become a culture in popular gaming.
Gotz ta grow dat e-peen somehow right?lol.
Sort of agree with you. It’s alright to have friendly banter between two people or a few players. But when it turns into outright attacking then I don’t think it is warranted.
Thing is most of it isn’t friendly I wonder if mlg is to blame every time I hear someone say something. I hear well the mlg do it I can’t be mlg without telling people to kill themselves.
I just hit the mute button.
People get complained on too often, suspend and/or ban them.
Not a good thing to do, but its better they let their anger out on games than in real life. Just mute them.
