It’s not even close to being the bulk of what they’re selling and going to sell.
Personally IDK why people are saying the Anubis armor looks cool. I might be blind but that armor more or less looks just like the default armor set.
Oh well. OP you’re free to buy what you want or not. Just grow thicker skin. Also don’t let your kids play on your account. Make them a child account with restricted settings.
They may have just been too poor to afford to buy cosmetics, and so they were jealous. The thing is, this f2p system was supposed to address the issue of rich and poor, but now, every game exacerbates the issue of rich vs poor, seeing players running around in store-bought armor that used to have to be earned in-game. I am not judging you for buying it. I am saying that this is an inevitable problem with the free to play model. Every game now exacerbates these feelings and has poisoned the waters
Or all the free rewards that will be adding up over time from the passes, weekly challenges, and events.
The shoulders are weird but I do like the helmet. Makes me think of a wolf or jackal.
To further illustrate my point, I’ll quote this guy’s comment I just read on another forum. I won’t give his name, but here’s his take: “Now seeing the “battlepass” and armor unlocked via paywall instead of actual achievement in the game, is a slap in the face. I will never regard anyone’s armor as special in this Halo title, knowing the most work they had to put in was enter a credit card number. I don’t care if the multiplayer is free, I’d rather pay $60 for a full Halo title and be able to unlock armor and cosmetics through game progression and achievement than have free multiplayer and a massive amount of microtransactions for armor.”
This is exactly the feeling I’m talking about. I called this out months ago. F2P has ruined the spirit of customization in Halo, essentially, ruined some of the fun.
People are losers unfortunately. Just have to ignore it and move on. Had someone the other day in quick play not talk the entire game, but called all of us trash when we lost. It’s so pathetic it’s almost comical
At least for myself, I have one specific armor set in mind. Since Halo 3, I’ve always preferred the scout armor helmet with some manner of thicker armor.
In games like reach, much of what I wanted was obscenely difficult and disproportionate to acquire. Having to grind months on end to rank up and get the credits to purchase something that I’d unlocked almost a year prior. Or in the case of Halo 5, virtually impossible to obtain without divine providence smiling upon you.
That’s the issue with achievement related gear. It can be stupid to try and obtain, like having to dive through layers of Easter eggs to get what’s essentially a normal armor set. Or lead to idiotic things like credit farming or quick-save abuse (Looking at you, Sword Base) to try to get something you like.
And when it comes to something as simple as looking how you want, a few dollars goes much further than toying around with some arbitrary and often nonsensical system, like the Scout helmet being unlocked by destroying vehicles in 3 while EOD was a campaign reward with no explosives involved.
All of that is remedied by not making the armor too difficult to grind for, and they can do this by giving us a regular xp system, which they’re working on. I actually enjoyed the interesting challenges involved with the armor. I think it should be more dryly xp based though. Maybe it could be either or, either this much xp or this challenge completed
Either or could be interesting, or have achievements discount certain gear.
For me, I never really got a sense of achievement from wearing armor I unlocked.
I got a sense of achievement from unlocking it, but that’s about it.
Likewise, I never saw someone’s armor and thought, “Wow! They’re so cool for unlocking that!”
Rather, I just thought, “Their armor’s cool. I can’t wait to unlock it!”, and “Whoa, it’s one of the developers! Also, I wish I could get the armor they have!” when I saw things like the armor with flames (in Halo 3).
I don’t mind the game being free-to-play, I don’t mind most customizations costing money, and I don’t mind people paying to unlock things quickly if they don’t have any time to unlock things.
However, the way that things have been done in Infinite is awful.
Mixed playlists (there are likely other solutions for playlists that lack players).
Challenges that make you want to use challenge swaps (swaps shouldn’t even cost money).
Customization options costing an arm and a leg and only being available in the store.
Colors and emblems costing money or needing to be unlocked.
The Battle Pass being padded with XP boosts and challenge swaps.
For customization, the armors and other things for each season shouldn’t even be a la carte.
They should all be in the Battle Pass, and the Battle Pass should cost $30-$50.
Items being sold separately from the Battle Pass is actually good, but developers and publishers always find ways to ruin that kind of thing (e.g. overpricing items and not including them in the pass, and making things slow to unlock).
Well my only concern was that, I never thought when I saw someone else’s armor of how much money they had
Reach’s system definitely took too long, and I didn’t like some of the achievements in Halo 3 (though, most of those Vidmaster Challenges were fun despite being difficult sometimes), but overall, I feel those were far better than how things work in Infinite.
It would be good to have an unlock system that’s not too time-consuming but not too quick, and being able to pay somewhat more to unlock things that are in the Battle Pass without having to buy the Battle Pass would be good.
For example, I’d say armor sets are worth $3, so buying it on the store would cost $5-7.
My thoughts exactly.
Its never anything to do with being poor. This is what an idiot says as they try to justify a purchase that 3 titles ago would be included in the base game with no additional purchases.
Out of the box, spending 0 dollars you get jack for customization. Even Halo 3 out of the box you had 3 armor sets to mix and match, Mk VI, CQB, and EVA and that was broken up between helmet, shoulder (r), shoulder (L), and chest

This excerpt is from a post above and ultimately is whale logic. You are ok with being bilked because YOU personally do not wish to actually play the game. Reach had a good unlock system that even after the gruntpocalypse nerf it was easy to unlock items, even day 1. Not only that but you could PICK unlocks you wanted, you were noy forced to progress in a linear fashion like mcc to get things. The only exception were certain unlocks required a given rank and even then iirc it was only really stuff like the Mk VI and haunted along with certain armor effects and chiefs ff voice iirc
Seen this going on for years, you could almost say, typical Halo
Not cool at all. That takes matters too far. In fact, that just sucks.
I believe you have completely misunderstood my position on the issue. I am on your side of this argument. When I said it was “supposed” to address this issue of rich vs poor, I am implying that it did not. And then I explained why I think it did not, and in fact, made the issue worse. I believe the decision was made not to help the poor, but simply to make them money. The narrative of getting poor people to play the game is just that, a narrative.
Reading this post, I think this probably sums up the situation in a nutshell. All this has the Halo fans even turning on one another. One of the players on my friends list, on the X-Box, got ‘Brigade Flagged’ and now his account is locked.
You may have misread, based off of your response.
What I was pissed about was them messaging me after. I guess in today’s climate it is acceptable to do things like this without any repercussions. I changed my settings to not allow this anymore.
My kids already have kid accounts where they cannot be messaged. But sometimes they watch me play on my account.
I guess if it did happen while they were there, I could always use it as a teaching lesson and show them bot everyone is a good person.
Thanks for your response.
I’m not okay with being bilked.
I do not know what gave you that idea, but if I was okay with being bilked, I would say that Infinite is fine as it is.
However, even in this topic, if you read my other posts, you’ll see that I’ve been talking about my problems with the way things are in Infinite.
Anyway, my reasons for what I wrote in the quote:
Unlocking things too quickly leaves people with nothing to look forward to.
Unlocking things too slowly makes progression in the game feel like a slog.
Even with a good unlock rate, some people will probably not want to wait to unlock certain armors, effects, etc., therefore they should be able to buy them with a slightly higher price (which is better than paying for many XP boosts and challenge swaps…).
For people who want to unlock everything, they would buy a reasonably priced Battle Pass that includes all of the items that are available in the season.
Reach’s system wasn’t bad, but from what I remember of it, it took a very long time for me to unlock some things.
Longer than it would take to unlock them in the Battle Pass.
I suppose I wouldn’t mind a credit system to unlock things in Infinite instead of or in addition to the experience system, but only as long as things could be unlocked at a similar rate to what Infinite’s would be with better challenges and performance-based XP.
