Tournament Playlist?

What if we had a Tournament playlist. I don’t mean MLG, or Arena slayer, but I mean an actual Tournament Playlist where we win consecutively to win a prize 343i could give winners over the entire community. If you lose, no chance of getting back in the tournament. It would be a 1-2 day thing once or twice a month. I’m sure 343i will have prizes that were “like” recon back in the day.

For example, The tournament started at 9:00 AM Eastern time on Saturday, then the playlist would be available to get on. You only have an hour to enter the playlist before it closes on you due to there being lots of people thinking they will join the playlist at the end of the tournament and still win. All you do is win all of your matches with the team you feel confident in playing with throughout the tournament. Your team will be ranked at what position you are globally after every match trying to reach rank 1. Just one loss will be tournament over, but that’s what makes it a tournament. If your team wins the entire tournament against the world, then 343i would reward you with a 343i exclusive armor, effect, nameplate, maybe an exclusive 343i specialization, and possibly a free map pack. This tournament could be like I said monthly or bimonthly. It might take all day or even the next day.

Who thinks this would be an amazing idea? This isn’t like an mlg event, it’s an online tournament, so lag could still exist but it would be still be like playing online like usual.

OH MY GOSH.
Some kind of tournament would totally rock!

I know, this idea makes me want to say screw MLG playlist even though I love that playlist.

There won’t be a tournament playlist because no league is going to pick up H4 without a spectator mode, which was confirmed to not be in the game. Sad but true.

343i, please take this idea. People would love you more having a world tournament. I almost feel I should be paid for this idea, but I would be willing to donate this for the sake of Halo 4.

There doesn’t have to be a spectator mode as long as we’re given the tournament ranks. Almost exactly like Call of Duty has their global playlist rankings.

I was expecting a little more discussion on this thread. I’d hate to see this idea trashed. I want 343i to be aware of this.

I lolled so hard.

this… is a really good idea that could work really well.

That would be great! Fifa 12 has a tournament every friday until sunday if im not wrong… I think people would be more excited to play. But 343i will not put that playlist in reach maybe in halo 4 if any of them see this post…

Wouldn’t work. 343 wouldn’t get any money out of it and therefore wouldn’t bother (which is perfectly reasonable). There would never be a world tournament seeing as matches for teams that are far apart from each other (Califormia to London for example) will never get a fair match seeing as lag and host issues will be present.

It’s a cool idea and all but it would never work

Thanks, I really don’t see why we shouldn’t have it. Like the guy third comment down or so saying there wouldn’t be any spectating, I was thinking we won’t actually need spectating. Just a global rank would work.

Since when did 2x EXP weekend from Halo 3 ever give bungie money? It’s about giving the community something back. If anything, it would make the game more popular causing everyone to want to play Halo 4 and most likely have more game purchases.

I don’t think you understand… 343 will only justify setting up and running this tournament if they make money out of it. To make money they need to stream it and then show adverts whilst streaming. They could alternatively just get money from a sponsor but nobody would sponsor them for this seeing as it would be so tiny compare to massive LAN events or even online tourneys for more succeful games like LoL, SC2 or even BO2.

Yes, that was double EXP. Double EXP and an online tournament are completely different things. Double EXP is simple to set up and costs nothing. A tournament involves coding a proper tournament roster, organising times for teams to come on and play, preventing eliminated teams from playing, mustering up a prize, making sure that it’s fair (which it won’t be because of lag) and then if something goes wrong being able to have something to fall back on. All of that costs money and effort. Money and effort that can’t be justified.

The tournament would only be meant to be played on the game. It wouldn’t be meant to be shown on tv or the internet. It would be impossible to record everyone’s games. The winners would just be announced on the waypoint website on the weekly bulletin. Just really try to imagine it as 2x EXP weekend, that was setup every Friday I think and closed Monday morning or Sunday midnight. I remember Bungie even had a recon challenge in matchmaking at one point. People were given recon for like most kills, sticks, snipes, etc. It can be done.

How do you expect than to actually make this a tournament then? If the prize is a mention on the site then nobody would show up. So they’d have to include a cash prize or something. Then it starts to get serious with tones if teams showing up and they’d have to organise it probably with seeds, brackets and consolation games. That would take ages. Too much effort for something so small. They’d be better off actually supporting the already in place LAN tournaments by putting in a damn spectate mode.

i really like this idea start a petition

You’re saying you wouldn’t want exclusive things no one could get? Remember what I was saying about losing a game you would be kicked out of the playlist, with the ridiculous number people being knocked out of the tournament would make ranking much more easier to handle, and it wouldn’t even have to start ranks until there’s about a thousand games left. The game could at least handle that, it already does when you go on a playlist and see how many games are played.
