Top 5 Ways to Kill a Moa

#5 - Sticky Grenade

How do you feel about overcooked, tough bird meat? If you’re willing to look the other way, because maybe you have enough barbecue sauce to mask the burnt taste, then using a sticky grenade to kill your Moa can be very efficient. If you can find a pack of Moa together, you can kill all of them with a single grenade - well done! However, remember that humans have not yet developed the technology to manufacture these plasma grenades, so you will have to fight the Covenant to get your hands on these guys.

#4 - Warthog Front Bumper

Obviously, this is a classic choice. The warthog is a very effective Moa killing machine, because it has the speed to catch up to a frantically fleeing Moa, it has the power to run them over and it also has a horn that can scare the Moa. Seven out of ten food scientists agree that a scared Moa tastes better when you eat it, particularly the ones from the southern regions. The main downside here? You’re going to get your windshield dirty, so make sure you pack some window cleaner before you go.

#3 - Forklift
Video Guide: https://streamable.com/409ki

The Forklift is one of the most underappreciated weapons in all of Halo Reach. Humans and Covenant alike often ignore it, ignorantly discrediting its use in live combat. Don’t make the same mistake, people! Because the Moa never see a forklift enter into battle, they don’t fear it - you can drive right up to them on a forklift, and they assume you are bringing them food or something. Well, you’re not. The greatest benefit of using a forklift to kill your Moa is that you don’t have to worry about how to get it home. You already have a forklift, so you can just carry it right away, and frankly you can carry multiple at one time.

#2 - Rockets

Some of you might object to this one. Someone will probably say that you should save precious rocket launcher ammo for dangerous enemies like the Gold Ranger Elite. Whatever. Go on ahead and complete your mission directive, and then have fun starving at the end of the level and having to reload from checkpoint all night. Meanwhile, I can use one well-placed rocket to kill multiple Moa at once, and the fire from the explosion cooks them perfectly. They come out very crispy and tender.

#1 - Cargo Vehicle Back Bumper

This is like the Warthog trick, except it’s much more fun and efficient. You don’t have to worry about getting your windshield dirty, and if you hit the Moa at the right angle, their poor desecrated lifeless unblinking carcasses will actually land on the back of the truck, so you can just drive away without even having to get out and pick them up. Don’t even have to get your hands dirty. The obvious downside to this great method of Moa killing? You have to be a pretty good driver, but don’t let that stop you from using this strategy!

Honorable Mentions

a. Needler

It’s not a bad option. If you get enough needles in the Moa, he explodes and it makes a bit of a mess, but the meat cooks pretty good this way - you just lose some of it in the explosion. Unfortunately, you got to spend a lot of time picking the needles out of the meat as you’re eating it, so this definitely isn’t top 5 material.

b. Shotgun

The shotgun is a very effective weapon, but you have to get pretty close to Moa to use it. So they got a good chance of running away from you before you are in range. There are ways around this, such as using a Drop Shield to cage them and then it’s pretty easy to shoot them with the shotgun. Also you can use the forklift to pin them against a wall, but if you’ve got a forklift we already discussed how it can kill the Moa on its own and carry it home, so you probably don’t need the shotgun unless you’re really mad at the Moa.

c. Sniper Rifle

I admit, this probably should have made the top 5 because you can kill multiple Moa with a well-placed shot. Sniping is tough work though, especially the multikills.

d. Plasma Pistol

If you’re using a plasma pistol to kill Moa, you are probably pretty desperate. Have you ever eaten meat that tastes like plasma residue? It’s not pretty, I’ll tell you that much. Anyway, the plasma pistol is certainly effective at killing a Moa so go on ahead and use if it you want, but don’t expect to have a lot of company at your dinner table.

e. Melee

On the plus side, you don’t have to worry about the plasma charge aftertaste. Unfortunately, watching a Spartan try to catch a Moa as it runs around, it takes a long time and you need good stamina if you want to catch it and beat it down. Once you finally caught it, you’ll probably be in a bad mood since it wasted so much of you’re time and thus you’ll probably shoot it a few times after it’s dead, and that just makes the meat a lower quality and you have to waste time removing the bullets form the meat, etc. Not recommended.

Wow! It’s impressive to see how much work you out into this guide, including video examples! Clearly you have a lot of passion for this, and it shows!!! I may have a difference in opinion to the top ways to take these fuzzy monsters out, but I have a lot or respect for your work.

I’ll have my next MOA burger in your honor!

thanks
