I am a Halo fanboy, been once since Halo CE. I’ve logged in around 500+ hours into each Halo game online and pretty sure I’ll do the same for Halo 5. I bought an Xbox One for the sole purpose for playing Halo 5. And yes, it’s better than Halo 4 and Halo Reach in my opinion.
(btw, I won’t comment on the campaign since I haven’t gotten half way through it)
1. Can’t the ranking system’s “seasons” last longer? It sucks because me (and I’m sure a lot of people out there) don’t have much time to play Halo 5 (unfortunately), so having the seasons reset every month is a bummer. Some months I don’t even have enough time to play all 10 games to get ranked in a playlist or I just get to play enough to reach a level I’ve been working at, but it gets reset the next day. How about 1 season = 4 months? Or maybe like sports, it lasts nearly a year?
2. Fire-team bug from launch. I know this happens a lot, but when I have a fire-team, one (or two) people drop from it before the match starts. They are still in the game, but I have to re-invite them to the fire-team after. Small complaint, but is annoying after nearly every game.
3. Why can’t we hear our fire-team when finding a match? Sure I can invite them to a party chat, but unlike many players nowadays, I like talking to the rest of my team and talking -Yoink- to the other team. So when the game is finding players, no one can hear each other. Only after players are found and the map countdown begins, players can talk. We could talk during this fine in past Halo games, not sure why they chose to disable it in Halo 5.
4. The lack of Halo mainstay playlists/game-types is embarrassing. These are playlists/game-types that Halo fans have come to expect out of the gate: Doubles, Flood, King of the Hill, Oddball, etc. I know 343i was trying to push their Warzone and Breakout agendas hard as “the biggest thing in FPS games”, but a lot of gamers vocally were disappointed at hearing these game-types/playlists were not included at launch. Worst, we got flirted with “doubles weekend” a few times, but still no news.
5. No split-screen? ARE YOU SERIOUS.
And yes, I like the radar in Halo 5. It promotes teamwork and situational awareness. Plus, the game already gives so many hints to players (audio cues, spartan chatter, etc) that you don’t need to rely on radar. If you do, you obviously weren’t man enough to play Hardcore.
