Top 3 new or returning weapons?

My top 3 weapons I would want to see back in Infinite would be:

  • Halo Reach/HCEA style shotgun
  • Halo Reach grenade launcher
  • Mauler (or some kind of new brute shotgun)

what kind of weapons do you want to see return? And what ideas for new weapons do you have?

  • Battle Rifle - Assault Rifle - MagnumHowever they’re changed for Halo Infinite, I hope it’s in a way they’re all viable. I’d like to see the BR return as the main weapon in multiplayer. I appreciate the Magnum in Halo 5, but I miss being able to pop shields and get a kill in one burst. I know you can still pick up the BR in Halo 5, but a lot of times it’s suicide to not use the Magnum.

  1. Halo 4 Lightrifle*

I really like the idea of weapons with multiple firing modes, and the burst/semi-auto modes with the Lightrifle were really cool. I’d like to see this feature come back, but tweaked a little bit. In Halo 4, the Lightrifle was designed to be a polarized weapon. Unscoped, it was just a worse Battle Rifle. But scoped in, it was a better DMR. It would be cool if it was designed as a versatile pick up weapon designed to fulfill either role.

For starters, the burst mode should be hitscan like the single shot mode. This would just make it so much more consistent. Then it should have a competitive TTK in either firing mode, but not in a way that makes it better than the BR and DMR in every situation. It used to be a 5 shot kill when hipfired, and a 4 shot kill when zoomed in (assuming the last shots were headshots.) I think this damage profile could work well in a balanced sandbox, as long as the unscoped rate of fire is slightly increased to compete with the BR’s TTK, and the zoomed rate of fire slightly decreased to make it a little closer to the DMR.

Also, bring back the original sound design for the Lightrifle. In Halo 4 it sounded so unique, so menacing and vicious.

  1. Better Plasma Cannons

Plasma Cannons have been criminally underpowered in Halo. They have similar damage to regular chaingun turrets, but are hindered by their large bloom/spread and the fact that they’re not hitscan. The solution would be to either make them hitscan, or give them a generous damage increase. I’d like the latter more because making it hitscan would make it a little too similar to the chaingun. But even then, the projectile speed would have to be increased. Perhaps they could be given some kind of unique mechanic to help them stand out. For instance, what if Plasma Cannons caused shields to short out and take a little longer to recharge? I think that would be pretty interesting.

  1. Some kind of Vortex Cannon. I don’t care what it is.

We’ve seen this with the introduction of Void’s Tear and Halo 2 Beam Rifle Delta. I think it goes without saying that weapons that make singularities are pretty awesome and fun to use. I think these weapons are good to go as they are now.

Dual wielding needlers. Enough said.

Yes!!

I would say the granade launcher but if were going of ones not in 5…i want to see

  • plasma launcher - sticky detonator - needle rifle (without removing the carbine, i really like both of them)

On a serious note, it’d be awesome to see the Brute Shot again. I’ve really missed that thing.

Special Mention: Return of the dual weapons (and for the first time, been introduced to the dual sword)

I would like to see the needle rifle, brute shot, and H4 style binary rifle

  1. Orbital Fire Laser Designator
  2. Needle Rifle (but as 3 round burst)
  3. Forerunner Energy Stave (battle axe/pole arm)

BR, rockets, and sniper rifle are absolutely necessary for me. I could play the entirety of my halo career and be happy with just those lol

Actually after voraciously reading more of the Halo novels, I’d like to add to and amend my list from earlier.

  1. The Needle rifle. Now with the San’Shyuum no longer dictating Sangheili weapon technological development, I’d like to see them utilize and develop more subanese crystal weapon technology. The Needler Hog shows promise to this end.
  2. Energy Staves for both Honor Guards and Prometheans.
  3. If the T’vaoans (Skirmishers) make a reappearance, I think it would be cool to see the “Covenant” Cutlass make an appearance. This would fit well with their and other Kig-Yar’s piratical nature and add a new wrinkle to combat tactics.

Just an add on idea, if 343 bring REQs back, then they should be Halo Variants of the Gun. For Example.
