Too Similar & Underused

So this was the excuse to remove the Grenade Launcher, the only weapon that took time, practice, and patience to master in order to fully utilize its devastating power.

Underused?
Every game I played, the Grenade Launcher was immediately picked up by my team or the other. Plus, it wasn’t even implemented on enough maps for people to actually use it. That’s what makes the Grenade Launcher underrated, no one gets a chance to actually use it, therefore its potential to kill is often underestimated to new or unfamiliar players.

Too similar to sticky detonator?

  1. Using that same logic, then why was the BR added? Isn’t the BR “too similar” to the DMR? (EDIT 8/3: Beam Rifle confirmed return, is that not redundant?) On top of that, there are 4 confirmed precision weapons (well could be more we don’t know about) and 2 shotgun variants. Being “too similar” (which by the way, it definitely is not) is not a valid excuse to remove the GL.
  2. Then what was the point of adding the Stick Detonator? For the sake of change?
  3. They’re actually completely different. Let me explain how

…a. Grenade Launcher (“Pro Pipe”)
…i. Kill players with a single precise shot
…ii. EMP shields if shot is near proximity of player
…iii. Bounce off surfaces, extremely efficient for taking out campers
…iv. EMP/freeze vehicles in their tracks
…v. Set shots as floor traps by holding down RT.
…vi. Digital Indicator
…vii. Mid-air manual detonation
…viii. Works as offensive weapon
See tips of the Pro Pipe; you’ll be impressed and learn something new!
Here’s why I love the Grenade Launcher

…b. Sticky Detonator
…i. Comes with radar
…ii. Magnetically sticks to surfaces
…iii. No holding RT; Shoot & Detonate blast by clicking RT
…iv. Tactical defense weapon
…v. Ability to mine objects
Clips of Sticky Detonator

There’s no point of removing one and keeping the other; if the BR and DMR can suffice then surely the Sticky Detonator and fan-favorite Grenade Launcher can stay. Let’s create the next big Halo game; bring GL and SD to Halo 4.

Im not surprised that they would want to take out a wep that took skill to use

I agree. The Grenade Launcher was one of the best weapons in Reach. It was only underused because it wasn’t on many maps. The Sticky Detonator doesn’t even compare to the Grenade Launcher. D:

Please stop.

Yeah, negativity gets us nowhere.

but you must remember the unsc engineered new tech and the sticky detonatoris way advanced then the grenade launcher.

Well, the UNSC flag disintegrated Spartans. Frankie’s reason? Because it was cool. Not everything has to follow canon. And it’s not like grenade launchers were discontinued from production, never was that mentioned.

I agree. The Grenade Launcher was awesome and a great addition to the Halo sandbox.

Every Halo weapon takes a lot of skill and practise to use properly, that’s the point of Halo.

Yeah that flag disintegrating thing is dumb. In mp balance and gameplay come before canon (whether I like it or not) so I don’t see why they can’t both be in mp.

I don’t see why the grenade launcher and the sticky detonator can’t coexist in a game.

the Grenade Launcher is by far one of my favorite weapons in the halo universe. It was versatile and actually needed some skill to use. You needed to gauge the player’s speed and direction and lead the shot to hit them properly, or use the EMP timer to wait till it can do the most harm. It could be used as against vehicles and is probably the best anti-banshee weapon I ever used.

I can understand underused since it wasn’t on a lot of maps and a lot of the time it was picked up by kids who thought it was like a grenade launcher in every other game and was a gateway to easy kills. It took some time to get used to but then again that’s good. With weapons like the Rocket Launcher a kill is as simple as point and shoot. With the Grenade Launcher you really needed that extra knowledge of how the weapon works and whats the best way to use it.

Meh. I thought it was a fairly useless weapon anyway so much like Armor Lock, I’m not sorry to see it go.

The weapon was devastating, as useful as the Rocket Launcher in some sense. You just have to learn how to use it to understand how useful it is, and this is exactly what I mean – people underestimate the power of this weapon.

Actually the grenade launcher has radar. It has a small screen that lists how many players are around the grenade (emp mode). It can’t tell friend from foe however.

It can take out a gauss hog. Nuff said.

I really hope they didn’t remove it, I pissed me off today when someone caused me to fly into the water in a banshee by EMPing me twice and landing me deep water (Pun intended)

Yeah, good point, but I wouldn’t consider that a ‘radar,’ but more of a digital indicator.

DMR says Hi.

I’m sorry I have to say this but theres already at least five threads pertaining to this GL SD debate wouldn’t it be better to talk about this subject in the most popular one thats already been created.
