This crap where people just leave a game in progress in the Arena is getting old real fast.
Sometimes it’ll be right at the very start. Other times literally all it will take is the enemy team scoring just a single point. Call me old fashioned, but does this not strike anyone else as both frustrating and cowardly? And if we’re going to be made to endure this nonsense where our side is doomed to failure right from the start, can we at least get other players to fill in those vacant spots? I mean its just ridiculous. Or at least give something to those of us with the balls to continue the match despite having the odds stacked against us.

yeah it sucks…but that’s just the nature of the beast. They do sometimes add people mid-game…even in arena. I’ve had my entire team quit before in 4v4 and the three replacements were awesome and we ended up actually winning. But getting a cookie just because you didn’t quit doesn’t seem necessary. It’s a slippery slope and your already getting exp and req points for losing anyway, right?
It’s insane not to fill the spot because like you said you’re screwed if you are down a man especially for objective games

Can’t be done unfortunately. People will take advantage of it by either making dummy accounts and having them quit to get the bonus. Or a guy with a good team will score 49 kills then have his teammates quit who don’t care about points so he can claim the win and the bonus.
Honestly, I think as bad as it is to have one of your spineless teammates quit right at the start, join in progress would be worse. Consider it from the perspective of the dude who is joining. I know I wouldn’t look too favorably on being dropped in a match where the other team has already capped 2 flags and is running the third right as I spawn in. Once, I was playing the social assault playlist and I spawned in and the only thing i saw was “DEFEAT” written across my screen and we went to the post game lobby. If that was a ranked playlist, I could’ve potentially dropped csr and a rank because of it. So as annoying as quitters are, JIP would be far worse.
