Thank you for this post. The core gameplay is phenomenal, very fun. I hope they’re able to fix all the issues as soon as possible, cause it’s the best playing Halo since 3.
I mean yeah while that’s true, I personally truly can’t find a single good thing about Infinite. I’m not in the camp that says Infinite would be the best Halo if not for the store and horrible progression, because I truly think Infinite on every level is a travesty. This is supposed to be a spiritual successor to the older Halo’s? How? I play Halo 3 daily, Infinite is nowhere close to that game or those older games.
No wonder you can’t go back to MCC.
No it hasn’t. Halo was purely casual during CE, no matchmaking to be found, and Halo 2 tried to do competitve, but Comp didn’t take off until Halo 3.
I like clambering too, but I prefer Jetpacking, Reach and 4 for me.
It’s really sad that 343s incompetence over the years has slowly shifted everyone’s expectations to such a bare minimum that people feel the need to praise that the game has good POTENTIAL and decent core mechanics (something that Bungie figured out almost 20 years ago) for a game that’s been in development for 6+ years.
How much lower can we go? I’m all here for it. Next halo game will be a stick figure of master Chief drawn on paper and we’ll have people talking about how good the line work is.
Nope, no love from me. 6 years of development and they have released something that is barely more than a beta. A very good beta mind you! It’s just a pity the rest of the game isn’t there/doesn’t work
Agreed.
I enjoy the gunplay.
But the fact that they released without certain playlists because “doing so may negatively impact other playlists” was the dumbest decision ever made and one that still impacts the game today. Where’s doubles?
That with many other issues (lack of maps/content, Desync, constant melee issues) prevent this game from being as great as it can be. But hey! They’re drip feeding content! Two maps released DAY 1 of Season 2! More gray attachments for your four armor cores!
So pumped.
As a hopeful halo fan, I always imagined Halo improving on all aspects. 343 has made decisions that may improve upon some parts, like gameplay, but ruin others, like customization and file sharing. Reach’s store and progression is, imo, the greatest in the entire fps genre, and 343i decided it wasn’t profitable enough to expand upon. No Halo fans, we gotta add lootboxes. No, we gotta make a store, and a season pass, and a grindy challenge system. They don’t give the fans want, they give us what the shareholders want, a system that gets them as much money as possible no matter how much it degrades the franchise.
Something positive?
Ok.
Since 343 lied, and screwed over the 152s, I wont feel superior to other players.
Since im not playing infinite, i have time for other games.
Haven’t played the game in months because the game is atrocious.
I feel your pain, it was very wrong of 343 making a clone coating of Watchdog and making it a twitch drop.
But I’m not surprised they did that because they did this in Halo 5 with the Helioskrill armor.
Have to beat Halo CE, 2, 3 and 4 on legendary on MCC to get it, then they later drop two “different” variants of which is the same armor but with “different” stripe designs in gold req packs.
Its less than 1% supreme the gameplay and mechanics are terrible, the network is god awful and the game lacks so much content.
They lied about customization to how you can customize by limiting us to what can be equipped and to what can be unlocked.
They said you can unlock armor and stuff by playing now in this basically a “pre-alpha state” You have to pay to get armor and customization.
They spent 6 years for a game that barely works. Infinite makes Halo 5s MP look amazing and I hate Halo 5 that game was god awful.
Sure and the worst part about Watchdog skin is it looks nothing like what 343i shown and 343i still haven’t even bothered to apologize or say anything about a fix for the 152 reward. Right now the broken design looks generic and does not stand out. It’s easily confused with the other unlock…which kind of devalues the item.
For the sake of any other studios looking on this game release, I’m happy to keep the negativity flowing.
F2P monetization over having actual content should be made to be known as something that won’t be tolerated.
I hope that halo as a franchise suffers the consequences for this short sightedness for the short term. But that is only so that Halo doesn’t continue down the path that it is currently on. Obviously long term I want halo to shine.
I tried. Stoped paying attention to the thread when people started to get nasty. The community really needs to start to acknowledge good things too. Especially not jump all over anyone who’s enjoying the game. Not gonna grow a positive community that way.
I can’t give them a pass this time, the game was already bad, and the update made it worse in so many ways that it makes me question why I haven’t deleted it entirely
Yeah, I love Infinite but don’t have faith in the teams behind it. So onwards to other games with teams who don’t muck up core systems as badly as Infinites. Hopefully 343i can follow their MO of making a game better just in time for the next Halo game release.
I really like the new Catalyst map. It must be the greenery, because it feels fun, whereas the campaign has you traipsing around so much monotonous Forerunner architecture that I’ve come to loathe it.
