I have found increasing amounts of sh*t littering maps like crates, boxes, pipes, and pointless structures that seem to serve no other purpose than to break up the line of visibility or provide random cover for someone camping. It’s getting annoying. The Halo 4 maps were especially egregious in this department. Random rocks, crates, pylons, trees scattered around the maps. I understand the purpose on large maps with vehicles, but in small 4 v 4 maps, it’s really upsetting and irritating. Halo Reach started this trend, but Halo 4 took it to a new level. What are your thoughts?
4 had the worst maps ever. Of all time. The clutter you speak of was especially annoying. You could tell the trees, rocks (even buildings!) that were positioned after the map was designed, all in an effort to minimize lines of sight. The clutter needs to feel natural, and nothing about the Halo 4 maps felt natural.
I only see that in maps like Abandon. Many other maps like Complex are a little too bare. Too wide open so you can get killed from across the map before you can reach cover.
I agree OP. I miss the simplistic map design of halo ce!

Yeah, Complex was particularly interesting. It was essentially 3 maps in one. On the one side, there was literally no cover when spawning on the hill. On the other side, there was an immediately choice to go into one of two bases, that ultimately led to even more bases. It was a very weird map that didn’t really have a very good flow to it. Have and Exile were probably the two best maps in the game, and even those weren’t anything to write home about.
