Too many repeating weekly challenges

I find it very irritating when I get multiple of the same challenges during the week like this.

Light Is Might 0/7
Light Is Might 0/5
Light Is Might 0/5
Light Is Might 0/7

Does the system randomly assign challenges to players each week? Can there be more variety? Alternatively, can it be made so that progress on 1 of these carries to all 4 even if they aren’t all active at the same time?

When the fans are demanding more generic challenges that can be completed without really trying and in any playlist then it gets hard to have a lot of variety.

If you had some really good suggestions they might could maybe make it in the pool (possibly?) one day.

It’s because people complained about any tasks that were even remotely challenging, they had to drop to tasks that even low iq’d individuals could figure out how to do so they could breeze through them.

You can only do so much when the goal is to make tasks that even the most incompetent players could do.

Totally agree that people complained about challenges forcing them into specific playlists and any challenges that were remotely challenging. Still feel like they over corrected on this last change.

They also could come up with heaps more generic challenges quite easily.
Just a few off the top of my head:
Get a kill with a vehicle or a driver assist (there’s already one for splatters so using a vehicle is still generic enough)
Get x kills with a power weapon (new players need to learn to try and fight for control of them and they can always play fiesta)
Use any of the equipment (plenty of variety in how you would make them work)
Mark x opponents

They really set the bar pretty low for variety.

Or, and to this conclusion comes everyone wirh a remote understanding of the game, the stopped using challenges which ruined games. Having people running around for 10 minutes trying to stick someone or camping at a certain weapon spawn instead of playing is just toxic BS.

This game had actual challenges in the first season. Then people complained that they were too hard so 343i took them out. Now that XP is not exclusively tied to challenges, i think some of the harder challenges should make a comeback.

What i don’t like about identical challenges are that if they are not in my top 3/4 slots than they do not progress. What is even the point of showing me all the challenges if i can only progress them 3 or 4 at a time? I’d rather just not know instead of getting a very minor inconvenience.

Kill 50 enemy Spartans in a PvP match no scope last shot without dying whilst wearing cosmetic bundle item value at least 1200 credits

So you can strategize, if you care. “If I get that headlight challenge done first then I’ll have 3 active sticky challenges to progress together.”

I’m sure the point of the challenges is to get people to play X-amount per week. But yeah, I don’t like being forced to play a certain way just to get them done. They are generally much better & easier to complete (except getting 3 kills with the Pulse Carine - it’s still trash).

As far as my original complaint, I wouldn’t mind nearly as much if I could progress on all of these same challenges at the same time. It’s irritating when they’re spread out and thus you’re forced to either complete all other challenges so they are active at the same time OR do them 4x over. Honestly, if they went back to double the amount of challenges per week but had them all active at the same time I wouldn’t mind that.

Not complaining at all. The more of the same challenges that pop up, the faster I can get a bunch of them done, and the less I have to sit there and grind challenges

If I have three challenges that want headshots, assists, or kills, easy, those are all done at the same time. It was annoying having four completely different challenges that you couldn’t multitask

That’s true, but that still does happen from time to time where you have 4 completely different & opposing challenges active at the same time. I don’t understand the point of not making them all active at the same time when they’re literally called Weekly Challenges. They could just as well have a random 6-8 Daily Challenges that are all active at the same time.

I mean, I do understand the point… I’m sure it’s a design decision to try and time-gate progression to an extent. Probably a holdover from the original system in which they’re trying to encourage people to buy challenge swaps (I hope no one is actually doing that).

I have like 180 challenge swaps left over from Rockstar, and I pretty much never use them. Challenges gotten a lot easier lately, so they have become pretty useless

I’d like to see playlists separated and challenges to be playlist targeted. For example five challenges a week per playlist. If you complete one set of five you can have access to the ultimate challenge.

As an example
My challenges would be;

For a CTF playist:

  1. Win 5 games
  2. Be MVP
  3. Defend the flag 3 times in one game.
  4. Score the flag twice in one game.
  5. Kill 100 Spartans.

More social playlists could have more fun challenges.

I hope 343i wasn’t planning on selling any challenge swaps with challenges this brain dead easy lol.

Once we get a REAL XP Progression System, there’s no reason for 343 to not have bonus challenges daily/weekly/monthly, as long as they don’t count towards the Weekly Capstone Reward, just XP. They don’t even have to count towards the Battle Pass for all I care, just XP for the Progression System. Gives you something to do on the side for fun, especially if the Progression System has rewards every certain levels

When they release a progression system it will be the official release of this early access game.

Hopefully they’ll show some genuine thought in these practice runs.

I’d honestly like to see more of the old school unlockables that Bungie used to do in their games. They do them in infinite to some extent with those lockers in campaign, as well as stances and a weapon charm. But no actual gear for taking the time and figuring out puzzles and what not placed throughout the game for really dedicated fans. Ones that generally don’t require paying to win or have time limits. You just did them when you felt like doing them.

Although, they also tended to be really cryptic with those puzzles at times too. Some of which took years to completely figure out. Getting the one Skull in Halo 3 to get the full Hayabusa Collection for instance…

I actually just posted about this a few seconds ago in a different topic, so I’ll copy/paste it here too.

I never cared about collecting everything, I only cared about having actual challenges and progression able to unlock things. It gave me something to do.

You want me to do 140 Assassinations for a helmet? Easy. 100 Ninjas for an armor effect? I’ll go for it. 100 360 No Scopes for an insane weapon kill effect? I mean, damn, I’ll try my best. Do a LASO in under an hour for a skull for a helmet? Let’s gooooooooo! (343 would never do these anymore…)

Unlike past Halo titles, Halo Infinite lets you earn basically NOTHING for doing achievements and milestones. Halo 4 was 343s only real attempt at a Halo game, even if it was kind of CoD. 5 and Infinite were them saying “let’s keep being experimental (generic) and taking influence from other games that AREN’T Halo”

Now look where we are. Gacha and then 99% store 1% game

Also, the Campaign is painfully barren, empty all over the place, pointless to explore. They could use some real puzzles and secrets to unlock special cosmetics. Not just a giant sandwich and dolls laying around. MCC has Moa statues now. Give us ANYTHING for replayability value. Give us some weekly PvE campaign challenges too

My immediate reaction was hell no, stop forcing me to play modes I don’t like. Then I re-read the post and I think you are saying there is only one weekly ultimate and you can complete the 5 challenges in a playlist of your choice to access it. If that’s what you mean then I’m totally on board because it lets them add much more variety to the challenges.

Only downside I can think of is it’s probably a bit complicated from a UI perspective and we don’t want to rock that boat too much.

Aye that’s what I meant…

And yes the UI would have to be completely re worked…. But not a bad thing.
