Too many power weapons :(

Halo 4 is starting to feel like one of those games where everything evolves around the player with
the bigger gun, rather than the one with the most skill. Nearly every other encounter I have my
opponent is using some type of instant-kill weapon.

From being spawn killed by a sniper on Ragnarok to being rushed by someone hiding with a
Boltshot. Or turning around a corner and expecting a fair fight just to be obliterated by someone
using a rocket launcher or incineration cannon… while playing on a close-quarter map I might add.

What do you guys think? Does this just come off more as another rage post or can you relate? Feel free to give me some tips on how to avoid being killed so much by them.

I can relate. That’s why I want a classic playlist with set loadouts. No spawning with the boltshot.

The least 343 could do is make some weapons more rare than others. Out of the 13 ordinance
weapons in this game, 9 of them are capable of killing in 1 shot.

I agree too. There are a lot of power weapons. I’ve slowly distanced myself from Infinity Slayer and BTB. I’ve found Team Slayer Pro and Team Regicide to be rather fun actually.

I don’t know if this would help you, but one thing that I’ve found fun, because it pisses players off, is using the assault rifle on the short maps. Especially if you can get close before they put a couple shots in you, you’re able to mow them down pretty quick. People get upset, because they say the AR takes no skill to use, but I disagree.

The AR doesn’t take any skill to use. Extremely easy aiming and extremely powerful. No skill is needed.

Interestingly though,

Many are arguing the opposite.

That Halo was about control of the powerweapons. And that the DMR/BR can easily save you from being attacked by that sniper on Ragnarok.

Just playing devil’s advocate.

You have to put more shots on target to kill someone. If you want skill go kill people with ONLY the plasma pistol.

It has a fast firing rate along with extreme damage and no skilled aiming is needed. Just make sure the large circle has a person on it and hold the right trigger. Sorry, but the AR/Suppresor/SR take no skill. I’ve used them myself and they’re so easy to use it’s not even funny.

You have a good point. I love controlling the power weapons that are available to everyone. I do not think it’s fair though when I get an ordnance drop and it’s a needler, and then the dude on the other team gets an ordnance drop and it’s an incineration cannon.

I like the random ordnance drops available to everyone. This is my just my personal opinion, but I think they should either get rid of personal ordnance drops, or do away with randomizing them.

You can’t protect yourself from a sniper because they don’t unzoom when they get shot

The DMR then also takes no skill to use. If I use it I can wipe the floor with people but I prefer the BR/Carbine. The less shots it takes to kill would mean less skill because you don’t have to aim as much.

Try Hardlight shield, it works wonders.

Red team often spawns in a river that is exposed. I was dead before I even realized where I was.

I don’t mind power weapons as long as they take some sort of effort to use. Take that sniper rifle for an example… It has a strong aim assist, kills in 1 shot to the upper 3rd, and remains scoped even after its wielder is shot. Compare that to the sniper rifles in Halo 3 and Reach.

I didn’t say it takes skill for them, but they take much more skill to use than the assault rifle. You actually have to somewhat aim with them.

Completely agree.

I don’t know what to suggest to you. A sniper rifle is a power weapon and can be used to get a lot of kills.

It isn’t invincible though.

My point was that the sniper rifle is powerful and ridiculously easy to use compared to previous games. Most of the power weapons in Halo 4 can kill instantly and with very little effort. This is what bothers me.

Ppl think this new set up requires skill, buts it completely random. Every cornor is like a game show, ‘whats behind door number one? Why its an incinerator cannon!’

The only certainty is that you go out in the open, 3 separate DMRs have you in their sights. Considering that, I’d rather take the uncertainty!

Christ I miss halo!
