Too many armor/helmet variants?

This may have been a topic already but I haven’t seen it yet so here goes nothin’.

I’m starting to think there are far too many different helmet and armor variants. Don’t get me wrong. I’m ecstatic there are so many to choose from. Options and what-not. What I take issue with is Spartan’s were supposed to be special. One of kind.

Maybe my timeline is getting skewed here but now, with all the options, I have a hard time believing they are any more rare than an ODST. Seeing one on the field used to be a morale booster for the Marines but now it’s turned into “Hey there Spartan” like it’s an every day thing.

I don’t keep up with the lore anymore and that’s probably exactly where it’s explained.

Thoughts? Or if someone could clarify it for me that would be great. Like I said. I’m sure my timeline is skewed and there has been a time lapse that justifies the number of variants.

I bet Google has the answer. lol

I had hope when I saw how many armors halo 5 would have , And “more to come”.

Hope that my favorite armor / helmet would make it into 343’s halo.

Classic CQB, needs to be in halo 5.(halo 3)
Been my favorite helmet for the better half of halo multiplayer.(with customisation)
Wore it in 3 and reach, it became how I see my character.

“Give me back my face!” -Rorschach

That is a good armor. I used to use it also. I just feel like there is so many now. Again, that’s great and all but it’s hard to believe they are a special breed anymore.

That’s really an issue caused by the fact that all we ever seem to see now is the Spartan-IVs aboard the Infinity, as well as the fact that the Marines in Warzone are actually simulated. I don’t hate the Spartan-IVs, and personally don’t understand the crap that gets thrown at them sometimes, but I’d really prefer that 343 take their focus off of them and the Infinity. Yes, I know the the Infinity is now crucial to the plot, but 343 really wants it and everything about it in our faces almost all of the time.

I just hope there are more “earned” armors in Halo 6.

But I agree that there are too many armor variants, imo

Don’t forget about EOD.

EOD made it into halo 4.

343 has left CQB, and EOD behind in halo 5.
(Cyclops and dynast are “inspired” and too different to be recognized vs the originals)

Cyclops is inspired by EOD? I’ve never heard that before

The problem is they need content for updates so one way to do that is to make endless armor variants and adding it into the lore. It ends up being quantity over quality.

the issue isn’t the number of variants, the issue is that they lack a lot of creativity, they just put a bunch of random shapes on it and it’s a variant, we need unique and creative variants (like recruit charred is one of my favorites, also the Helioskrill variants too) something that really makes the armor different from the others, for example a variant of Kat’s armor with the robotic arm, or a Nightfall skull variant (like Dutch’s armor).

Your telling me u don’t like the "reskinned"variants of existing armor with the only distinguishing difference being white paint on one? Yes there are too many variants of both with a huge amount of ugly ones

There’s a short list I heard people asking for.

1)Mark 5 classic. Got a deformed “alpha”
2)Mark 5 b. Decimator-ed
3)CQB. Dynast round and doesn’t resemble original.
4)EOD. Cyclops is so different nobody noticed.
5)SPI. Would make a lot happy

And the few of that list have been remade.
They barely resemble their originals.

At least we have REACH character sets…

So Spartans aren’t rare anymore. They are pretty much mass produced at this point. Halsey no longer has a role in ONI or the production of Spartans. UNSC and ONI now make their own Spartans, and it is much more ethical. Next gen Spartans aren’t formed from children. They are adults within the UNSC, and they can apply to become a Spartan. Think about the navy seals, that’s basically what a Spartan is now. Halsey’s first gen Spartans are the best, in terms of performance. They also were unethically made, incredibly expensive, and time consuming, and Halsey didn’t produce a whole lot of first generations. The UNSC makes less effective Spartans, but they make much more of them. Quantity vs quality.

The larger production of Spartans wouldn’t be possible without the privatization of the production of MJOLNIR class armor. When the first generation of Spartans were made, they wore Mark I’s, which were government made prototypes that actually weren’t all that good. They were incredibly expensive, like the cost of one star ship kind of expensive. MJOLNIR’s really started to shine when private businesses got their hands on them. They started competing with other companies for UNSC and ONI contracts. These companies started producing better tech, cheaper. This lead to lots of variations, and only the best of the best was given contracts by the UNSC and ONI. The most advanced MJOLNIR class armor right now is the Mark IV, which Spartan Locke and his team wear. These suits are the most advanced available right now. These suits are getting so good, that there is less emphasis on the person wearing the suit, as even above average military personnel can do amazing things inside these suits.
Also, Covenant and Forerunner tech is much more widely available for humans now as well. Helioskrill is an example of a suit of armor, made by the Sangheili for the Spartans to wear.

So yeah, Spartans are still pretty badass. The first generation of Spartans are like Seal Team 6, whereas the newer generations of Spartans are other Seal teams. But hey, you still have to be a badass to be a Seal.

I think there is, especially with most of it looking horrible.
