I have seen my share of downright amazing forge maps. Some are remakes of classics that are “updated” to fit within the gameplay mechanics of Halo 5, others are original creations, and I think it is really a shame that they aren’t being implemented into the Arena. Maybe not team arena, since it is based on maps played in the HCS, but at least put some into Team Slayer, FFA, BTB, etc… The fact that the horrible map Antifreeze is still in the rotation for BTB and some maps like a Terminal remake from Halo 2 that I played on recently are not included is honestly a bit disheartening.
The maps will/are starting to get stale, and with multiple maps being recycled pieces of other maps, it gets even more stale. I know some of these maps get a “spotlight” thing on waypoint some times, but who cares? How many people are playing 4v4 or 8v8 customs regularly enough to play them to their potential vs the number of people who only play arena?
This installment of Forge is arguably the best yet, but we’re really only able to see its potential in a couple of the infection maps.
Idea: If it’s too much of a pain for 343 to play test these forge maps for matchmaking, make a community map playlist with maybe 10 maps or so that have the most potential for success and then have the community vote for ones to implement into the other playlists.
Im getting frustrated just thinking about the overall wasted potential in Halo 5, so that’s all I have for now.
