Tone down Firefight please...

Just before I start, i’ll say that although I play to win, I am a much more casual gamer, and I am part of the large halo crowd that enjoy just picking up the controller and jumping into some matches, winning and getting the points. This post is directly for the people who like to play casually and aren’t particularly fans of having their s*** pushed in endlessly.

Warzone Firefight is way too difficult on most of the maps (the only map that seems to be balanced enough to be complete-able is Attack on Sanctum, which is a great map). 8 times out of 10 you fail within the first 3 rounds because the game expects you to do ridiculously difficult objectives in a stupidly short amount of time.
Round 1: Defeat 100 crawlers? well that’s all well and good, except it’s not just crawlers is it? It’s the bullet spongy/boring knights and the soldiers that you can’t possibly hope to defeat massive waves of, when all you have in an assault rifle.
Round 2: Defend the garage? well that’s all well and good except an endless stream of bullet spongy prometheans backed up by a phaeton, a force with collectively has the power to instant kill you from most distances, isn’t exactly a fair fight for max REQ level 3’s now is it? (I’m fairly confident after the beta, 343 said you WOULDN’T be able to get this objective so early, but I could be wrong, either way it’s still there)
You get the jist of it if you’ve played.

Between the ludicrous spawn times (that by wave 5 take up nearly a fifth of the time limit), to the overwhelming waves of enemies, to the complete lack of weaponry at the beginning of matches. Warzone Firefight is far too difficult for the casual player who isn’t/can’t communicate with their team of randoms.
There’s a few different options for how to tone down Firefight to make it a little more fair and less irritating:

1) Have set REQs throughout the rounds.
E.g. Round 1 finish = REQ level 3.
Round 2 finish = REQ level 5.
Round 3 finish = REQ level 7.
Round 4 finish = REQ level 9.

2) Option to spawn on teammates. As the spawn distance from the objective is stupidly far.

3) Remove the time limit (but have a REQ points increase for faster finish times)

4) Lower the difficulty setting. I’ve seen some people say it’s on “Mythic” difficulty, which would explain the huge waves of enemies. If that’s the case, i’d suggest at least lowering it to Legendary, if not Heroic.

Out of those options my personal preference would be option 1) and 2). Or at the very least, make the mode more rewarding (more gold packs after 10 wins etc.) Though i’m interested to read what everyone else thinks. If you have any other ideas of how to change Firefight, do please share.

Refer to my article HERE of how bad the developers changed the Prometheans. It makes WZ also partially painful

Campaign on Legendary feels like it’s on Heroic to me since playing Firefight. Firefight is definitely on some extra level Yoink!

It definitely needs tweaking… The first 2 days were fun running with a company team. The last 2 days I played random were absolutely not fun. I think some of it maybe contributed to the free download. Players not having reqs and not knowing the objectives. I got in one game that didn’t get past the level 1…lol. I played 8 games total and lost all with the exception of one game. The winning game was when a few of my company members came online and we teamed up. If you don’t have tanks and major reqs to play with forget it!

Will do

Yeah I agree

Yeah it’s fairly unbalanced for casual players and solo players. I only ever win matched on Attack on Sanctum now honestly.

I’d also like to note that the Mythic Warden fights definitely need a nerf. It’s pretty pathetic when you call in some vehicles (like a tank) to deal with Warden, just for one of more Wardens to EMP you over and over and over. You’re completely helpless.

> Mythic is a fictional difficulty for PvE, it’s LASO. (Legendary, all skulls on.) This is not the case in firefight.

FF makes legendary look like easy mode.

I hate when you have to fight three warden eternals (including mythic boss), and they’re at the back of one of the spawning bases.
Also, defending the Forerunner Core at level 2 on Urban… -_-

I totally agree. I’m a more casual player, though I don’t mind a bit of a challenge, but the difficulty is kind of ridiculous. The difficulty in the beta felt a lot more balanced. I completed 7 or 8 out of 10 games on the beta, and sometimes I was even in the top 3 players in the game. Now I complete 1 out of 10 games, and I’m usually in the bottom three players. I would be okay with a middle ground, like the same difficulty, but six minutes per round instead of five.

  1. Set req levels per round is stupidly ridiculous. What would even be the point of reqs then
  2. I kind of agree with this. Spawning is silly how far away you spawn from the action.
  3. Remove the time limit. Are you serious? What would even be the point then? It needs a time limit. I don’t want to be stuck in a game because a load of noobs can’t req any good weapons/vehicles. Plus how would you fail the game type?
  4. WZFF is set to legendary mode

  1. I don’t think you’re on the same page with that one. If everyone progressed to a certain REQ level upon completing a round, you’d actually be able to use higher level REQs on the harder objectives. This would make REQs MORE useful, as you’d actually be able to call them in earlier on.

  2. You have a fair point on that one. Just a suggestion but yeah removing the time limit wouldn’t work. An increase maybe by a minute or 2 per round?

  3. Well it probably up-scales to account for the amount of players, that would explain the difficulty. It makes Legendary look like a breeze.
