Just before I start, i’ll say that although I play to win, I am a much more casual gamer, and I am part of the large halo crowd that enjoy just picking up the controller and jumping into some matches, winning and getting the points. This post is directly for the people who like to play casually and aren’t particularly fans of having their s*** pushed in endlessly.
Warzone Firefight is way too difficult on most of the maps (the only map that seems to be balanced enough to be complete-able is Attack on Sanctum, which is a great map). 8 times out of 10 you fail within the first 3 rounds because the game expects you to do ridiculously difficult objectives in a stupidly short amount of time.
Round 1: Defeat 100 crawlers? well that’s all well and good, except it’s not just crawlers is it? It’s the bullet spongy/boring knights and the soldiers that you can’t possibly hope to defeat massive waves of, when all you have in an assault rifle.
Round 2: Defend the garage? well that’s all well and good except an endless stream of bullet spongy prometheans backed up by a phaeton, a force with collectively has the power to instant kill you from most distances, isn’t exactly a fair fight for max REQ level 3’s now is it? (I’m fairly confident after the beta, 343 said you WOULDN’T be able to get this objective so early, but I could be wrong, either way it’s still there)
You get the jist of it if you’ve played.
Between the ludicrous spawn times (that by wave 5 take up nearly a fifth of the time limit), to the overwhelming waves of enemies, to the complete lack of weaponry at the beginning of matches. Warzone Firefight is far too difficult for the casual player who isn’t/can’t communicate with their team of randoms.
There’s a few different options for how to tone down Firefight to make it a little more fair and less irritating:
1) Have set REQs throughout the rounds.
E.g. Round 1 finish = REQ level 3.
Round 2 finish = REQ level 5.
Round 3 finish = REQ level 7.
Round 4 finish = REQ level 9.
2) Option to spawn on teammates. As the spawn distance from the objective is stupidly far.
3) Remove the time limit (but have a REQ points increase for faster finish times)
4) Lower the difficulty setting. I’ve seen some people say it’s on “Mythic” difficulty, which would explain the huge waves of enemies. If that’s the case, i’d suggest at least lowering it to Legendary, if not Heroic.
Out of those options my personal preference would be option 1) and 2). Or at the very least, make the mode more rewarding (more gold packs after 10 wins etc.) Though i’m interested to read what everyone else thinks. If you have any other ideas of how to change Firefight, do please share.
