Tom Salta for the soundtrack composer?

Please 343i, use Tom, he has a much better understanding of what halo should sound like in my opinion. Halo 4 was more Hans Zimmer like, rather than the music we’re use to.

Halo 4’s soundtrack suited the campaign very nicely. Felt more sci-fi like.

Halo 4 didn’t sound like Hans Zimmer at all, but I still agree with having tom salta do the music.

I sense a lot of nostaliga here.

The music in halo 4 is different, but still good. The fact is though, it doesn’t fit the franchise well the way it was implemented. The older style works better because that’s what the series was built on, not cinematic Hollywood music.

So you’re saying that anything that isn’t 100% equivalent to the first three Halos should be abolished? If you ask me, that’s a terrible way to go about when you’re thinking about making a sequel to something.

I didn’t have a problem with Neil’s music, except for the implementation. However, I do think that Tom Salta and Kazuma Jinnouchi are better at capturing the thematic feel of the game, regardless of if it’s traditional or not.

Did i say it should be abolished? According to you I must have. No, that’s not what I’m saying, I’m saying that the old music worked better than the new music did. I didn’t say anything about abolishing it or anything for that matter. We can keep that music, but it should be mixed with the older style. A combo of new and old is ideal IMO.l

Yeah, I agree. Tom also worked on the Anniversary as far as I was concerned too. He’s got experience. Kazuma should stay as an assistant composer though, he nailed Halo’s feel with a few songs.

Why do people always discount the beautiful score Neil Davidge gave us? People are so horrible when they talk about his music. The way I see it he should helm the music for the next two games at least. He did a fantastic job at bringing us and entire new set of music that was still Halo, but represented a new era at the same time.

I’m sorry but i just do not like Neil, I’d rather have Tom or Kazuma as a composer.

343i should hire Noboku Toda and Norihiko Hibino to complete the perfect triforce for the next Halo game (these guys worked with Kazuma Juinichi before). I really don’t like what Davidge did with the Halo universe. Dull, boring and lifeless music, really different from what O’Donnell and Salvatori did.

It was more sci-fi like though, better suited for 4’s atmosphere.

I remember when I played coop with my friends when it came to a scene with master chief and captain lasky looking at each other, we’d play George Michael’s careless whisper and couldn’t stop laughing xD

So much hate on 4’s soundtrack. Does nobody else agree it suites the campaign? My only complaint is the music at start-up of the game, BUT THAT’S IT.

The music wasn’t bad it just wasn’t interesting I didn’t care or remember about the music like I did in the previous halos

You guys are late -.- Neil isnt with 343i anymore.

I like the Halo 4 soundtrack. I also like the original trilogy soundtracks. It took some time but the new tracks grew on me. I agree though, as much as I’ve enjoyed the new tracks and like the fresh but familiar tones I don’t think I enjoy H4’s tracks as much as I’ve enjoyed previous games tracks. The tracks I do enjoy are also ones not fully done by Davidge but rather that other guy which I can’t think of his name right now.

Either way, Stephen Rippy would be my choice for new composer. I absolutely love the Halo Wars soundtrack. I honestly think it would be my favorite with CE, 2, 3, and ODST all falling very closely behind. That man needs to take the job for sure.

You can’t listen to this and tell me it doesn’t give you vibes from all 3 of the original trilogy games

Revival disagrees with you. As does Haven, Solace, Nemesis, Arrival, 117, Belly of The Beast, This Armour, and the list goes on.

I do. Several things could have been done better, but it had an ultimately good soundtrack for what it was.

Source? Where does it say this?

He was my top pick before Neil was announced. His talent is wasted doing social games.

In all honesty I loved Halo 4’s soundtrack just as much as the original trilogy’s. It felt like a natural evolution of the original music suited for Halo 4.

When was he an employee of 343i to begin with? Also, I remember Neil stating he wanted to do the music for the rest of the trilogy.

He never was, but thats besides the point. He has a contract to score Halo games. When someone says ‘he left’, it requires an accurate and reliable source, which in this case is non existent.
