United Earth Government and the Covenant. Two empire’s whom fought each other over the ones religious beliefs. Now present day,the Covenant is divided into remnants and the Swords of Sanghelios and the UEG is in a crisis. The outer colonial guard has joined insurrection forces and other colonies are upset about ONI lying about the Master Chief. Will the UEG and the Covenant have the same feit and crumble by their own hands?
It’s a very possible thing if we were talking in terms of reality, but for sake of story and writing I think major things will happen to reverse this for at the very least humanity.

Ok think about this, With the Covenant fractured who would counter the inevitable return of the flood if the UEG falls?
It will burn and from the ashes a new human alliance will rise like a phoenix!

Yeah, it probably will collapse at some point or another, but there will always be a new alliance that will rise up from the ashes.
The UEG will likely have to go through reforms if it wants to continue to exist with the Outer Colonies on board unless: 1) there is massive counter-insurgency war with Spartan IVs or 2) there is some external and massive threat that brings the Outer Colonies back in line… ( dum dum dum!)
