I have loved playing Halo 5 for a long time, but recently it has degraded majorly. With tons of warzone firefight bugs, arena spawn killers and constant loss of connection when the internet is working perfectly fine and slow to no loading after lost connection, and so many features that are needed but aren’t added(and no response from 343, except for when you have done something bad in the forums) it is one of the most annoying experiences I have had in ages.
The only way to get any help is to go here, on halo waypoint, and make a thread. But then there is rarely any developer intervension, just the occational moderator shutting down threads because they are being “not constructive”. Meaning there is no help from 343, and the bugs keep piling up.
Not just bugs though, but cheats are as well being found and exploited. In the community sack on mongoose sumo there are people who set the mongoose on the very edge, before the first layer drops. When it is last man standing and there is one in the center and one on the edge, 10 seconds left it is impossible to win.
But now I’m going to move over to suggestions:
There are threads with suggestions popping up everywhere. Either single feature or a combination of multiple features that are not just wanted, but needed for the game to be playable, or making it easier. One example is the req cards. You cannot sell more than one at once, and there are threads that want it to be possible to sell multiple cards at once. And the ban hammer swings hard with gravity hammers at Grifball. You are almost guaranteed to kill one or more teammates while protecting the ball. If you and someone else go after the same person, the one who is at the front will almost guaranteed get killed if the other person is right behind.
So suggestions have popped up with removing friendly kills, the community have discussed it and - no 343 intervension. No confirmation that they know about the problem and no confirmation that they will do it. Meaning that (in my opinion) all of the feature request threads are completly wasted because 343 doesn’t care. The only “authority” walking around this forum are the moderators who keeps locking posts because that are “offensive” or “not constructive” in their opinion.
And now back to the game: The speed is so varying. Selling one item takes anywhere from 1-5 seconds. Trying to sell 100 boltshots that I got from etc packets but never used(because the boltshot is useless!) takes a lot of time, because selling one individually at an average selling time of 3 seconds takes 300 seconds of gameplay away.
Halo 5 is a good game, I don’t hate it. It is just that there are so many tiny things that are really annoying and 343 never fixes them. They just add 300 new warthogs and hope no one will focus on the bug that ruins gameplay completly. And the size of the game! Updates are huge and there is no option to “install later”. They took the windows attitude(when they insisted that you install win 10) and force you to. I only have 500 GB of capacity so I want to get as many games as possible, but Halo takes up the space of 3-5 games.
And even with this post, 343 will never acknowledge the fact that the game is flawed. They will never care enough to add things the community wants(except a few maps). But they keep adding 30 new variants of all the vehicles. There are 7 mantises, There are 7 types of warthogs for each type(scout, missile, standard) and these are useless and prevent packages from outputting the better vehicles. I have opened tons of packages and I have never gotten a single wasp, or a wraith. No, I just get 20 boltshots and another replicated armor piece.
And armor and visors and all the weapon skins; Tiny details that are never noticed and never cared about. And all the “power” weapons that you waste 6 req points on in game and you get two shots before it runs out of ammo or you get shot in the head from behind. Maybe you get shot by the 3 warthogs you just left on the field after getting headshot right after leaving the garage. That’s another thing: Vehicle spawn location is locked. You cannot change it, “YOU SPAWN WHERE YOU ARE TOLD TO” like attitude. And after you have spent requesitions worth 15000 in silver packages, you only get 3000.
Warzone:
And if the battle goes to hell(e.g. 303-809) most people leave meaning only 5 people left on the team(in my case) meaning if you had a chance of regaining it before(bosses, warden eternal) it isn’t there any more. It disappeared with the teammates.
WZ Firefight;
Team “mates”. Not really. Because you are almost guaranteed to be hit by a friendly ghost while you are trying to get rid of a boss or try to eliminate those 3 wraiths standing right outside the core with the LOS to the entire map. And the grunt goblin boss(the one with the needle blast that sounds like a 6 year old) - no vehicles will survive for long. Tanks are so slow the needle blast hits before it has had a chance to hide. Or maybe you might be able to use a sniper rifle to take it down? No, because all the tiny grunt minions have fuel rod launchers that shoot 3 shots before you have had a chance to move one meter(3 feet). But if you somehow manage to survive, and head for the next boss, run along the road and BAM! Someone rams you with a ghost from behind.
Grifball:
One thing is the friendly kills, another is the different limit of how many are allowed. Some have 3, some have 6, some have 10, some don’t get kicked at all. Some have one making it impossible to play.
General matchmaking:
Being placed in a ongoing game is hard as hell, because you never know what you start with, who your team is, or how much req points you have. Two times, I have been spawned into a game that is just finished. It is one second left, and I come in and suddenly “VICTORY”. You get 3000 req for doing nothing except wanting to play halo.
Something that I really miss though, is split screen. Playing with friends isn’t easy if they have to bring their own damn XBox one and have halo 5 in order to play. This is one of the tiny really annoying things. I can just buy halo 3 and get it, but the graphics, the weapons are not the same. Well, you still have the 50 shades of Warthog, but still.
So that is today’s angry speech that 343 will never read.
