I’m solely creating this thread as I am sitting at my desk bored watching discussions on the next Halo installment…
With that said I have never created a thread on this site I used to use “bungie” forums back in the day, I started playing Halo when I was 7 years old, I quickly became a fan of this game for the campaign as it was beautiful for all of its glory out dated now. When Halo 2 came out imagine my excitement to get the next game I was siked that game turned out to be even better in my opinion… I joined a gaming community that will go un named but one of the largest and most recognized out there and worked my way up through the ranks, Halo was the perfect game for this especially in Halo 3 in which is my favorite of all games to date. We had infection, cops and robbers, candy man, maze like maps in forge mode. That game was awesome in middle and high school I would stay up until 7 am and playing multiplayer or campaign because of how for the lack of better words addicted I was to the game and I was really satisfied with it all. The ranking system, the campaign, the story there was not a singe flaw metaphorically in my mind to this day other than I couldn’t drive a damn pelican until that glitch came out.
Regardless, I have and always been a fan of Halo since it came out but I do not play multiplayer any more, I play the campaign on easy and don’t care to go back with any game after Halo 3 or ODST which I was not a super fan but did enjoy. I have played and owned every game my xbox one is the limited edition halo version. I have the books.
My point of expressing all of this and bringing up my experiences is why the hell did bungie/343 ruin my experience for a bunch of new market of players?
If I want to go play call of duty for the ranking system I will go do that which sadly I play call of duty more now because of halo’s “screw up”. To me I have always played both games but enjoyed halo for the originality, the amazing “long length” campaign and amazing Halo 3 and prior multiplayer ranking system.
I personally have not enjoyed multiplayer since Halo 3, I enjoyed reach at first but after that was hoping the real ranked system would show up I remember having pride getting to level 48, it was real I did it all on my own and I had skill it only took me a year or so but I did it. I remember walking into a multiplayer room and people saying damn look at his rank now you get into a room oh that guy might be good look at his k/d.
I honestly wished Halo would’ve kept that “Halo feeling” when you played multiplayer it’s a sport it’s supposed to be competitive not everyone deserves a damn trophy. I personally work hard for what I have because if your handed a rank for participation you never learn anything except that you can suck and still get something that someone who worked twice as hard for got.
Campaign I still enjoy the story the only reason I play now but it’s been entirely to short the last 3 games 4 and 5 were like watching a 30 minute movie hyped up to be something it is not, when your done your left with the feeling is there anything left or is this really what I wasted my money on. I’ve spent probably thousands on multiplayer and halo related things as I owned a community after excelling in the one I joined for a few years. I played Xbox multiplayer for halo 3 style and kept playing until after reach I realized it was not coming back and stopped caring about the multiplayer. Change is good, lowering the standard is not.
My question(s) would be to 343 if they ever read my stupid rant why lower your standards, hype up games just to let the true fans down for a wider demographic market?
Why be less original when that what made Halo the actual Halo Game of the year?
Why not bring back a better “REAL” ranking system with multiplayer?
Why spend so much time and years of development with fans to just let them down so you can have more?
Why be like everyone else when you were better by standing out?
Why spend so much in marketing unrealistic truths in teasers instead of developing longer campaigns that challenges the consumer to rethink what you typically do in a shooter game?
Why waste so much effort trying to stand out when in all reality you’ve become a want to be version of call of duty when it comes to multiplayer and campaign?
Sure you have a story that is great and ever so developing for years to come but why tease loosing your most recognized year to date character when that’s why most of your fans play?
Lastly, why did you stop being original? Actually scratch that you did it for money that’s obvious. I guess that all, my opinion Halo sucks now the only thing I have to connect me with it is memories and a semi good story but too short campaign experience with a multiplayer platform I stopped playing when Halo 4 came out as it lacked originality and halo feeling.
Thanks
To any who think I have invalid point’s I’ve probably been playing longer than you have and if not the same amount of time but owning a community based on Halo I spent way more through site development, clan relations, members, meetings, tournaments, etc.
I’m just disappointed…
