I did it. After 3+ years of coming so close, with plenty of should haves, it’s done. I got it. My first unfriggenbelievable!
i thought the chance became a snowball in hell when they made warzone kills count for two points. And now this late in the lifespan of the game, seems like every warzone match I play as of late (I basically always play solo) has become Sweat Town, USA.
I played my first match on dark star today. Started pretty well, got some kills, called in a ghost. Just as I got my tenth kill, I got destroyed by a needler variant (might have been the talon). Figure I’ll just support from the sky, they had fortress all game.
Called in a wasp, got a few kills before it caught fire. Upgraded to an oni wasp, got a few more kills before a few close calls brought me to fire again. Called in a sword banshee, racked up some more kills, around the 20 mark. As soon as I hit level 7, got my phaeton.
It was a back and forth match, we kept trading armories, we were triple capped at one point. Once I had the firepower, the kills came much more easily. Saw that I kept climbing the streak as the game was almost ending. Warden was the final boss. Got the 35 medal…warden almost dead…score almost 1000…we’re triple capped again. Got some more kills. Never saw or noticed the unfrigg medal pop. Game ends, we lost. Whatever.
Thought I had a great game, but disappointed I didn’t get the unfrigg. Checked my kills right as the game ended. I had 52. I died right as I got 10, and it was my only death. Wait, so did I get over 40!? Lo and behold, checked my medals and there it was! So overjoyed, the mountain was finally climbed, my last goal for Halo 5!
Rewatched the game in theater to relive it. Got my 40th kill as we were triple capped and the enemy had 995 points! So close to not happening! And I then snuck in two more kills before the end…but my goodness, that could have swung so much more differently if another teammate or two died right at the end! Now that it’s done, I can play without ever having to worry about specifically going for it again. Such a great feeling.
