This is quite a sad day. First of all, a game that came out with easily the worst launch in recent history has a larger population than Halo 5 according to Xbox One Most Popular Games list. This shows two things
- Classic seems to have finally trumped.
- Halo 5’s “Free DLC” strategy, which I’ve covered extensively in a different post, has not worked well for Halo 5’s population.
OR the chart is buggy, which may be true. Cod GHOSTS is up in the top 10, along with AW, AND BO3? Something seems wrong on it. If the chart is accurate for today, then it really shows something when MCC has more players than 5.
What do you guys think?
Show me proof that most popular reflects current server population.
Isn’t popularity just by giving out a review? Notice the stars with the numbers next to them? I’d imagine that’s the total views summited. It’s also possible h5 does have the better pop but mcc scores better simply cuz people prefer the older play style. I’d play mcc more if they ever fix the issues, for now it’s simply not worth the hassle even if I like the older play style.
Most popular on the xbox.com page showed Halo 5 in the top 10 with no MCC to be found.
A link to this site of numbers and top 10’s, would help provide clarity…

I doubt it. MCC is riddled with MP problems.

Normally I’d say just look at the order and it’s clear enough the number of reviews or the ratings are not what determines it, but the order is wrong, so I guess you to actually do that.
Through a process of elimation and observing it intensely for some time, I’ve determiend that the “Most Popular” list accounts for the last week of some measure of people playing the game, whether it be unique users or non-unique users. It’s not based on reviews, ratings or game sales.
No it’s not. Most Popular games is not reflective of a game’s population, but of how often it’s bought in the Xbox store, and probably how often it’s viewed, too.
If you look at the Most Played games list on the Xbox, like I’m looking at right now, Halo 5 is ahead of MCC. MCC isn’t that far behind, though, so they’re population difference isn’t that much.
I mean, classic Halo is much better than whatever this new stuff is supposed to be. Wouldn’t surprise me.
