To those who want mark VI gen 1

I see a ton of people saying they want mark vi, and I would just like to tell you one thing:

Mark VI is unlockable VIA the first mission of the master chief collection. Want it scarred? First mission of halo 2.

Except the Mark VI in Halo 4-5 is totally off compared to Halo 3, or even Halo Reach and Halo 2A.

Are you sure you aren’t seeing a ton of people saying they want Mark IV? Because that tends to be a favorite armor. Then again, maybe you’re not looking in the same sections that I am.

I’ve found it’s because the jawguard of the helmet isn’t pronounced enough, and the top protrusion of the helmet ( I want to call it a visor, like the hat, but that’d be confusing) is too rounded and stubbed
It just looks big and bulbous because of it, what a shame.

Original Mark VI was much sharper when it came to the jaw guards, it was almost like a trapezoid with the way it jutted out form the side of the helmet,

In retrospect, the design of Gen 1 Mark VI from Halo 2 and Halo 3 (and to an extent mark V from CE) really was one of the most interesting and influential power armor designs in the modern era, really set the standard for power armor in other media since.

I think you’re confused with the MK IV GEN I suit aka the armor from Halo Wars.

Actually there are several noticeable differences between the classic Mark VI and the remixed GEN 2 version.

  1. Classic had an all-black slimming undersuit (something a lot of people want by itself)
  2. GEN 2 has protruding shoulder pads rather than a sleek single mold.
  3. GEN 2’s thoracic cage is rounded out, unlike the classic’s pectoral look.
  4. Space diaper.

Agreed. It’s a real shame that the Mark VI in Halo 4-5 is so off, since it really is one of the best armours ever designed. I don’t understand how 343i could have messed it up though. All they had to do was take the version made for Halo 2 Anniversary and stick it into Halo 5.

Then again, we are talking about the people who created the atrocity known as Mark V Alpha…

Because people want This, rather than This.
The new one looks almost the same as Gen 2, and far too different from the original Gen 1. That’s the problem. The shoulder pads are too high, the chest piece is too rounded, and lacks the battle armour style that the original one had. Putting a space diaper on the Mark 6 Gen 2 does not make it Gen 1. Really wish they had of used the texture in the second one too cause damn that looks better than most the other armour textures.

this will probably never happen because 343 always has to have things their way
