No I’m serious, lets leave. 343 and Microsoft are not listening to the fans and it has become clear that Halo is not going to return to what the competitive community refer to as ‘the real Halo’; or in my opinion ‘the fun Halo’. 15% of the community are pissed off at 343 enough that they want to leave and move on from Halo; so lets go and take roughly £24,000,000 worth of retail with us. This way the new generation of Halo fans won’t have to argue with us any more. Double win.
And lets face it, if anything is going to get 343 to notice us and the rest of the fanbase it’s falling sales and lack of population and quite frankly I don’t want to be here anyway. I’ve heard that Shadowrun is pretty good, once referenced to be a ‘Halo with magic’ and Counterstrike seems pretty cool too. I am also getting Halo CE PC version and Halo 2 vista if it works on my PC.
EDIT: After leaving (and returning now) I have really gotten into Black Ops 2 which has turned out to be one of my favourite casual shooters of the year. Also since I made this post both Halo CE PC and Halo 2 PC have been shut down - 343 has no control over this.
Another helpful thing the competitive community can do is continue playing Halo 3. The higher the population on that game the better. And pushing for a Halo 2 remake with the original MM is also something we can do as well.
And if Halo should die from this (which I highly doubt it will) then at least it will die a quick death.
It has been a great run with Halo and I respect those who still enjoy the game but it just isn’t the Halo franchise I remember any more. I will remain on the forums for a while, then probably leave for exams before returning when Halo 5 is being released (but I will not buy it) EDIT 2: I will be permanently leaving the forums and Halo, it has been a pleasure but our time with Halo is over. FINAL EDIT:
I felt it was time for this thread to re-surface. This is by no means a bump as this post is designed to show this thread to those who have not yet seen it instead of creating a brand new thread.
Since Halo has died I think it is time many people moved on, not just because of the reasons mentioned in the OP but also for the following ones:
-This game will not change, 343/Microsoft will not change it.
-It is time we let a new generation have their time and we grow up. It is only a FPS after all.
-It is time people realised that time will judge this game not us.
I think this is the end for me but interestingly enough I feel fine. I think my hardcore gaming years are over and that perhaps Halo needed to die for me to grow up.
I hope that this new generation enjoy this franchise as much as I did but remember, it is only a game and is therefore subject to change. I will soon be off to uni and then who knows? I will look back on these years remembering how Halo was for me and I hope future gamers can do the same.
