You’re telling me that the most recognized franchise in the world is not a mainstream franchise?
Call of Duty is the most owned and played, but when someone says “I play video games” to a stranger, half of the time they would say “Ohhhhh you play what, Halo?”
I’m sitting here laughing at you guys comparing Halo 4 to Call of Duty, and saying it’s turning mainstream because it already is.
If you disagree, do me a favor. Go to your local Wal-Mart, buy an apple, and give it to your soon to be 5th grade teacher next year because I’ll assume that’s how old you are. There is a point where you HAVE to accept the facts. This is one of them.
> Parents who had kids growing up between 2001-2008 probably still only recognize Halo. Any modern parents would only recognize CoD.
>
> But other than that, CoD is more recognizable to kids.
Nowadays, yeah.
But to the OP’s point, Halo was and still is mainstream.
lmao, the most recognized franchise in the world goes by the name “Mario.”
But I do agree that Halo is mainstream. The moment you see a game get it’s own mountain dew special edition cans you know that -Yoink- is mainstream lol.

I like mountain dew, with HALO on it it’s ever better!
Sorry whats mainstream, is it like release every year, which would be terrible for halo if we got a halo every year, cod does it because people get board with the game fast (lol).

So then tell me why I hear Halo mentioned more than Mario?

You may not agree that Mario is the most known franchise but Halo definitely isn’t.
Halo is mainstream, but nowhere near the most recognized, that goes to franchises such as CoD, Pokemon and Mario.
> lmao, the most recognized franchise in the world goes by the name “Mario.” coughcough Legend of Zelda

Why would someone not think that halo isen’t mainstream lol.
> You’re telling me that the most recognized franchise in the world is not a mainstream franchise?
Bahahaha. Not even close.
> So then tell me why I hear Halo mentioned more than Mario?
Where do you hear Halo more mentioned than Mario? Within your circle of friends? Within the boundaries of these forums? What frame of reference are you getting this information from? It’s bound to be biased, I guarantee you.
You tell me when a Halo title sells over 20 million, let alone the 30-million benchmark Mario has already surpassed. You tell me when Master Chief becomes more recognizable than Mickey Mouse.

Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but Tim Tebow’s name is recognized way more. Greatest doesn’t mean the most recognized.

Quit being stubborn:
The number of games sold or shipped with the name “Mario” in the title is surpassing 350 million…compared to the 30 million games sold or shipped with the word “Halo” in the title…
There is no comparison between the two.
Sorry, but say hello to your King of Video Games: “It’s-a me, Mario!”
> Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but Tim Tebow’s name is recognized way more. Greatest doesn’t mean the most recognized.
Where do you see me referring to Mario as one of the greatest franchises of all time? That classification is from a purely subjective perspective. I was talking strictly about Mario in terms of popularity.
Which in both sales and fame, exceed Halo by multiple times. Halo doesn’t begin to compare.
