To the people flipping out about fall damage.

CHILL THE -Yoink- OUT! Jesus, sit back and THINK for one -Yoinking!- second.

/end rage

starts to relax

Ok, seriously, dudes. Think about it. 343i confirmed that there will be no fall damage in match making. We also saw videos where there wasn’t fall damage. Chill out. Just because we saw fall damage in FORGE mode when they were specifically showing how you can change PLAYER TRAITS doesn’t mean that it is in match making.

That whole segment was there to show “hey, you can create zones where the players’ traits can change”, so, don’t you think that they would have enabled fall damage to effectively portray that? They obviously didn’t want split screen (we can see that when they played HORSE; they just passed the controller back and forth), so, what I believe, they enabled fall damage to take place of an enemy shooting them to show “hey, you can even change how much damage a player takes in these zones” so they could avoid split screen.

Relax! We have already been reassured that it is not in matchmaking. It is most likely a toggle-able feature for forge and custom games.

Now, I am not going to say “what I am saying is fact and true!” it is merely speculation. Why am I speculating? So I do not flip the -Yoink- out like everybody else is on this forum. I am taking facts and clues from the broadcasting and using that to form a hypothesis to why they did what they did and why we saw what we saw. It’s called “thinking” not “Z0MG!!11!1!11 dat GUY tok DAMUJ wEN he FALLDDED DWN!”…

People really need to take things into consideration before flipping out. Damn.

Why do people think there’s a huge seperation between matchmaking and custom games?

How is there not a separation?

When did they confirm no fall damage in MM? (Sorry I just got back and am trying to catch up on all this info!)

I am going to have to do some digging, but I will find it for ya

As soon as he made that jump I immediately imagined everyone was thinking “-Yoink-, there better not be fall damage.” lol XD

I haven’t ever heard this either.

fall damage is nothing more than “fall damage,” and it doesn’t bother me at the least.

Im a little concerned about fall damage but if it is in, it may only be in at large heights? Im not freaking out about it, if its in im not going to be one of those guys who says, OH! Halo 4 is ruined because of Fall damage! I just like not having it. As long as its at extreme heights I will be okay with it.

Agreed, it’s not that hard to figure out how far you can fall and how much damage you can take.

As far as I’m concerned, 343 has not said that MM will not have fall damage, and considering that the leaked footage, E3 footage, and today’s footage all had fall damage, it’s probably safe to assume that fall damage is on by default.

He was shot as he hit the ground, most likely.

Taken from the Bungie boards, I do believe.

Online articles can make mistakes. I still remember one that reported you could pick up the Hunter’s main weapon and use it in Halo Reach, and that obviously wasn’t true. And anyways, if someone had shot him the split second he hit the ground, why didn’t they continue to do so? To hit them the second they hit the ground would mean that player was obviously in their sights, so the only possibilities are either that player was distracted immediately after, or there is fall damage, and for some reason I find the fall damage reasoning more likely, as much as I don’t want fall damage to return.

If fall damage is in then that is a win. Fall damage was originally in h1:ce but disappeared until reach. Though its implementation in reach was not nearly as good as it was in h1:ce. In h1:ce it balanced out the advantages of someone having higher ground. Meaning that a person with the height advantage was also at a potential disadvantage, in the sense that if someone began to shoot them forcing them to bail to another level of the map then there was the possibility of them receiving fall damage or even a death. Now i say possibility because there was also this brilliant feature to counter fall damage. Simply crouch as you were making contact with the ground and you would not get damaged because you absorbed your landing. Also if i’m recalling appropriately, could be wrong here, I believe crouching on impact alleviated most if not all of the stun you would receive from failing to absorb your impact with the ground. Bring back a skilled based falling system.

I am in no way trying to come off as condescending or argumentative, but do you really believe that he was shot at the exact time that he hit the ground? Additionally, why would someone just shoot him once and not continue firing at him?

I also believe that that article was basing everything it said about Bravo’s video and none of it was actually confirmed information by 343 themselves.

They confirmed fall damage is out, and they also said the forge is not final. Put two and two together = Forge we saw is old.

Chill out everyone

I don’t want multiple versions of Halo 4 like what Halo: Reach is now. For example, in Halo: Reach there are two different Team Slayer playlists. Super Slayer and Team Slayer. The major factor between both of them is that Super Slayer (TU) has 85% bloom and and Team Slayer (Not TU) has 100% bloom. I shouldn’t be worrying about what is and isn’t enabled in that certain playlist like AAs or bleed through or the percentage of bloom. What I should be worrying about is whether I have a full team or not going into that playlist.
