I’m starting this thread to show people just how pathetically treated the community is by 343. As you all know, there have been a billion threads about the topic of there being absolutely no new gametypes/playlists, lack of maps, etc. Now, a lot of this thread is going to be countering defending points that many people make to cover 343’s butt.
First off, these monthly updates have just been a flat out scam so far. We are 3 months in to the life cycle of Halo 5, and the population has completely plummeted. There has been hardly any NEW experiences in these updates, not counting things that should’ve been in the game AT LAUNCH, such as Big Team Battle and Forge. Here we are, in January, and what have we gotten out of these “free” DLCs so far? 2 MAPS.
You might be thinking, “Well Bubba, that’s not true! We have gotten 8 new maps so far! Why are you complaining?”
No. See, I’m not counting those forge BTB maps. To even say that is DLC is absolutely ridiculous. We have forge, we can make our own maps. We want ACTUAL DEV MAPS for BTB. The only REAL maps we have gotten that actually offer somewhat new DEV experiences are Battle of Noctus and Overgrowth. Infact, I hardly even count Overgrowth as a new map BECAUSE IT’S STILL A REMIX. While BoN is an actually okay Warzone map, they didn’t even bother to make a Warzone Assault version. Why? Are you seriously that lazy 343? In fact, it is also heavily believed that BoN was held back from the final release, just so it could be put into this BS “free dlc” nonsense. This map was shown at GAMESCOM. That is 3 months before the launch of Halo 5. Why in the world was this map not included at launch? You would also think that since Halo 5 is extremely, heavily based on the whole “REQ” system, and weapon variants, that they would put more effort into making more Warzone/Warzone Assault maps so you can actually use the damn things. Speaking of REQ’s…
*"*Well Bubba, we also get a ton of new REQs every month! Isn’t that great?"
I have mixed opinions on this. Honestly, I think we have wayyyy too many REQs already. There is a very small majority of Halo 5 players that actually have 100% completion. Not everybody has the time to grind for REQs’ so when almost 50 more are added EVERY SINGLE MONTH, it can get a bit ridiculous. The armor sets I understand, you can never have too many armor sets, but all of the “variants” that are just skins, such as vehicles? Complete waste of time. 343, you could be putting that development time into things that people actually want, such as, well I don’t know, SOME NEW GAMEMODES AND PLAYLISTS. On the topic of playlists, why haven’t we gotten a single new mode, or even a permanent playlist? Cmon 343, it has been the most requested thing since launch, and after 3 months of waiting, you only tell us that we have to wait longer? Why can’t we just get something good in the January update? And speaking of the January Update…
“Well Bubba, 343 were on holiday break during December, they are human beings too! That’s why the January update is a bit on the shallow side!”
No. This is not an excuse for a shallow update. People are acting like everything in these monthly updates were made in the weeks before it. That is not the case. 343 probably already has content ready for February’s update and beyond. Also, even if that WAS the case, and they are still “working” on these new modes, they could still give us more playlists with absolutely ZERO effort. Doubles and Snipers have CLEARLY already have had their own playlists, just flip the switch and make them permanent! Why is it that hard 343? Why are you guys so shady on the topic of new modes? It’s really starting to concern me. SPEAKING of new modes, infection? They haven’t even mentioned the WORD infection when it comes to Halo 5. Nothing. Yeah, 343 has re-added Infection back into MCC, but when it comes down to Halo 5, they haven’t even acknowledged, in any way shape or form, that infection even exists. These modes should’ve been in development the moment Halo 5 was released, if they weren’t already. I remember reading in the Community Update that Bravo said that they were “working” on things like Fiesta Slayer. Seriously? How can you work on frickin fiesta slayer? It’s just slayer with random weapons! Speaking of random weapons, there’s not even an option for random weapons in custom games. Just wow. On the topic of custom games, while we do have some very cool customization options, there are some SERIOUS missing additions, such as a full range for number of lives, the ability to change teams during a game, and more.
“Well Bubba, they said they are adding all of the gamemodes back, why don’t you just be patient jeeze.”
No. These modes are STAPLES in the Halo franchise. Infact, whenever I play Halo 5, it doesn’t feel like Halo. Yeah, the gameplay is absolutely amazing, but it’s missing that Halo FEEL. Without all of these crazy and fun gamemodes that Halo has been known for, It just feels like I’m playing a generic shooter, with generic modes, and absolutely no variety. The only time I’m having fun in Halo 5 is when I’m going positive. This has been the most BAREBONES Halo game EVER, and it really is pathetic. In fact, we aren’t even getting these modes all at once! NOPE. 343 has stated that they are going to release these staple modes over MULTIPLE UPDATES. PLURAL. They are going to drag out the release of modes, just so we can get it in the next installment of AMAZING FREE DLC! YAY! We should be so grateful right?..
“Well Bubba, Warzone is a replacement for a lot of those modes! It’s amazing, I’d pay 60$ just for that!”
No. While Warzone was fun for the first month or so of Halo 5, it is gotten EXTREMELY stale. It has nearly the EXACT same boss layout on EVERY SINGLE MAP. Speaking of bosses, THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE BOSSES. I’m sick and tired of fighting Warden! If I hear Sarah Palmer say, “It’s Warden Eternal!” one more time, I’m going to rip my hair out.
So, here we are Halo nation, 3 months later, with over $1,000,000 poured into REQs, what have we gotten so far for it?
- 2 Dev maps
- Useless REQs
- and Features that should’ve been in the game at launch.
343 is completely playing us with this “FREE MONTHLY DLC!” plan. All this plan is doing is giving them an easy, shady, lazy way to actually finish Halo 5, and make it the game it should’ve been on DAY ONE.
Now, with my rant over, what’re your guys’s thoughts? Agree? Disagree?
